No one was at the check-in desk when we arrived. After waiting about five minutes, I called the property, and the phone rang on the desk right in front of us. Finally the employee came, and I explained I was the one calling for service. He stated no one had been at the hotel for a while, so he went to the restroom (TMI).
At that point two other parties were waiting in line behind us. When he had me swipe my card for incidentals, it locked up, and we waited a few more minutes until he reran it on another console. Due to the wait, we were upgraded to a suite, which was appropriate.
After receiving our key cards, we went to the 3rd floor to the suite. The card reader turned green, but the door would not open. My husband went back downstairs to let the employee know, and he was finishing the other two check-ins. He came up with a special fob, and he couldn't get in either. He went back downstairs to get us a new room with new cards. He was very apologetic, as he waited to be sure the door opened, which it did.
We were told we would receive a $40 discount, but I'm not sure how this will happen, since we booked and prepaid with Expedia.
The thermostat would not work to decrease the temperature of the room. I finally had to turn the air conditioning on. The outside temp was in the 20s, so this seemed ridiculous.
I doubt we will stay there again, even though it was close to our dinner reservation and other places we visited.
