The Bowenia home is gorgeous and had plenty of space for our family of 4. It's important to read the full description in the listing as the location is a bit more isolated and hard to get groceries nearby, so plan to plan ahead if you want to cook and get groceries at Mossman! We enjoyed hearing all the rainforest sounds and our wish of seeing a cassowary came true right before we left!

Peaceful experience in the Daintree

We had an awesome experience staying at this property. The property itself is truely amazing. It is open, cool in the heat and has the most beautiful view and vibe from the balcony area.You can sit outside & enjoy looking at the rain forest in the sunshine or rain. We loved listening to the birds & nature each morning & evening. The green tree frogs did not disappoint and the rain forest at our doorstep was a truely memorable experience. The amenities were great including a well resourced kitchen to work in. The hosts were welcoming & available. It was up there with one of the best places to stay for a rain forest experience in a beautiful part of the world. Truely memorable.

Beautiful spot to stay in the Daintree

Bowenia was the perfect spot for our family of 4 to stay and explore the Daintree. The house was great, it had everything we needed and was spotless. It was so lovely to sit out on the deck to relax, share meals and just listen to the sounds of the forest. It was close to lots of walks and lovely beaches. Would highly recommend.

Comfortable stay with a touch of adventure

If you're looking for a comfortable stay with a touch of adventure, this property is a great choice! It provided all the essentials and delivered a distinct off-the-grid atmosphere. Plus, it's only a quick 30-minute drive to Cape Tribulation if you have plans to tour the reef from that location. Darrell was an absolute pleasure to keep in touch with – communication was quick and effortless.Be aware that this isn't your typical sealed home. With no window screens and an open construction, you'll be treated to more of a "glamping" experience, albeit one with all the conveniences of a regular house. Luckily, mosquito nets are supplied for each bed to ensure a peaceful night's sleep without fear of mosquitoes getting you.

rain forest mould

Bowenia is a gorgeous, well-appointed tropical bungalow in a lovely, private garden setting. Miraculously, mosquitos were not a problem. The beds are comfortable, the verandah is terrific, and the kitchen is well equipped (apart from blunt knives and a reluctant stove/oven). Bring all your own provisions, including beverages. During wet weather expect to lose power (the generator works fine) and manage mould and mildew.There is virtually no cellphone reception in the area, nor is there in the Atherton Tablelands where we stayed earlier in the week. I asked the property manager/host about check-in instructions well in advance, but I only received an email one day before our arrival. The email instructed me to follow a link to Stayz.com or download the app to access check-in information. Stayz generated an error message saying I did not have access to the booking, and the 1800 number did not connect me with anyone who could provide the property manager's direct number. This was difficult to sort out after hours at a locked property with no reception. It was not Darryl's fault, but given the relative isolation and poor connectivity, confirming how to find the key in advance is pretty important.

Lovely home, beautiful setting, great location

Bowenia was the perfect house for our short stay in the Daintree Rainforest. Accordion doors fully open the large living and dining areas to the spacious outdoor deck, providing multiple seating options and places for children to play. The kitchen is fully stocked with quality dishes and cookware, allowing full meals to be prepared. Beds are comfortable, and fitted with quality linens. Large, absorbent towels and quality bath products are provided. The location is very convenient, being close to both Daintree Discovery Centre and Cape Tribulation. Communication with the host was excellent prior to and during our stay. Staying at Bowenia enhanced our Daintree experience.

Idyllic hideaway in the rainforest

Beautiful property and perfectly equipped for our family of 5 given 3 adult/teenagers all needing their own bed! Everything supplied and fantastic information and messages from Darryl. Would have loved to spend a couple more days and really decompress…… We understand why but with one bathroom/toilet you need to be ready to go early or take a very relaxed start….. Bliss!

Rainforest heaven

The house is stunning and equipped with everything we needed. The birdsong in the mornings, the butterflies, the ambiance of the rainforest, the seclusion, and the peace and quiet were absolutely wonderful. I wish we could come back one day.

Completely beautiful, peaceful, off-grid property

We spent 3 nights here with our two teenage kids and it wasn’t long enough! We had such a nice time having a quiet time - you can walk to the beach or drive if you’re feeling lazy - playing games, reading books, and yes, there was wifi for the teenagers to recover from some good disconnected time! All of the communications really easy, and the house has everything you need. We picked up food in Cairns before driving up, which was a good idea, just as a tip...

Rainforest Delight

A beautiful, rustic pole home set in a hidden, lush setting. We could have been on a polynesian island as the home is so unique. No fly screens, microwave, toaster or washing machine. But what it does offer is a unique experience in a beautiful part of Cape Tribulation.

Tropical hideaway

Great place to unwind, relax and enjoy the rainforest. All the necessities available made the stay feel very comfortable. My wife was not keen on nature, but was relaxed on the massive verandah having dinner and reading (a hammock would have been perfect), we thoroughly enjoyed and recommend a stay here.
