We like to stay at la quinta hotels. Good breakfast, nice areas and easy parking. The one in Irving if been remodeled and is really getting better and more fancy looking.

We arrived late, about midnight, and Love Bhakta, the Assistant Manager, who was on duty working the night shift, made room for us in a full hotel. She was great.

The hallway areas were all very dark-it gave the hotel an eerie vibe. The beds were super uncomfortable, my bath/shower still had brown smudges on the floor. If you’re only staying a night, the location may make it worth it.

The rooms seemed like they had recently been remodeled which was nice. However, there was only 1 light in the whole room and it was so dark. I kept wanting to turn on another light but there wasn’t one to turn on. The front desk said that hopefully that would get fixed down the road and more lights would get added. The location of the hotel was good because it seemed to be in a quiet area away from downtown Dallas. The pool was kind of small but the kids liked it. The breakfast was just ok. The “cheese” omelets had one quarter size blob of some sort of liquid cheese in the middle. There were waffles and a couple other choices but it was the exact thing every day. So after 2 days it got old quick and we went out for breakfast. Something I thought was weird is that they don’t come and clean up your room unless you ask them to. We had a small fridge in our room and when we first got there I noticed it was turned up all the way cold and there was frost in the fridge. So to prevent our drinks from freezing, I turned down the temperature just a few numbers. In the morning we woke up and there was a puddle on the floor of the room from the ice in the fridge melting. Kind of a pain. Overall it was an average stay but having so very little light was so incredibly irritating.

The hotel is generally good. There’s nothing much to complain about as long as you understand that it’s a basic hotel. The room is clean and the furnitures are good. There are not enough light fixtures if you need more light in the evening, but it was not a problem for us. I am fine staying at this hotel again if I just need an affordable place to stay in the area.

We arrived on two separate flights. Shuttle pick up for me was just fine, but my wife had to call 3x and it took about 40min to get picked up by the shuttle. And this was past 1am, so not a busy time. The room was newly refurbished, so quite nice. Their new light fixtures by the bed make a high pitched electric sound though and my wife needed to unplug them to get any sleep. So that wasn’t good. Improve the shuttle service and get higher quality light fixtures, and it’d be a 5 star rating for convenience and value.

The staff were very kind and it was a convenient location close to the airport with shuttle service. Unfortunately, it seemed there was substantial deferred maintenance. The knob on the bathroom door was missing and the bathroom door didn't close fully, the faucet was loose and felt like it could fall off, the shower head sprayed water on the floor even with the proper use of the shower curtain, and there was almost no interior lighting.

My wife and I had to wait for over two hours for their free airport shuttle which the front desk promised several times would be coming in about 45 min. We ended up taking a cab which the hotel refused to refund us for. We were also looking forward to swimming in the pool at the hotel but it was closed for no reason. 26 degree celsius weather - pool closed.

The most frustrating part of this experience is the shuttle “service”. You have to fight to get through to the front desk, you get put on hold, then the system disconnects you. So you call back again and hope the system doesn’t disconnect you again. When the shuttle finally comes (40 minutes later for us), it circles around the terminals multiple times picking up more people until the shuttle is full. Then it drives to the 10 hotels it services - we got extremely lucky, ours was the first. It only took an hour to traverse 2 miles. The front desk staff was nice, giving us tips on how to sign up for shuttle to get back to airport. No complaints on our front desk person - she was friendly, helpful. The room was clean and had all the essentials. Looks to be a newer hotel or recently refurbished. It’s strangely dim though. The bathroom is bright and fine, the main room has two bedside lights that aren’t very bright and one LED wall light that isn’t very bright. So at the desk, it’s like you’ve been spawned into the dark ages. I was waiting for King Arthur and his Knights to appear and have me pull a sword from a stone or something. The TV is there, so maybe the TV is considered a light? Maybe if they’re broadcasting pictures of the sun. If they cleaned up the shuttle service (I.e. made it an actual service vs a torture test of patience) and installed some better lighting, this would have merited 4 stars, 5 considering the price. But the shuttle kills your spirit.
