Needs updating!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed here several times, but this time our condo was not up to the standards we have come to accept at Silver Dunes. The condo was dirty when we checked in. Old mildewed wash cloth in the shower, sand under the rug when u come in, carpet was disgusting. The furniture was old and dirty and broken. The ac would not go below 70 degrees. The staff was not helpful. They sent maintenance who was clueless and although I stopped in the office to talk to Amber she never got back in touch with me to let me know if they would be discounting anything. Still haven’t heard anything from them. I understand that they only manage the place but there needs to be some kind of standard as to the furnishings and the level of accommodations they offer. The location is awesome and they know that.

Great place to stay

Reviewer Comments: We have six kids it's not always easy to find somewhere in my budget to stay. Unit 22 in silver dunes was perfect for us. It doesn't have the best Gulf view, but does have a view, and considering the prices it's better then expected. Silver dunes stretch of beach is one of the best we found while there. And Destin has the nicest beaches I've ever been too Hawaii not included. I would highly recommend this place and will be the first place i check with when we return this summer.

Stayed in Silver Dunes

I was somewhat dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Had quite of difficulties renting this unit. 1st was not able to book it online due to price mismatch, after booking literally week before my vacation the unit was sold and my booking was canceled. Had hard time reaching evolve to see what options they had. Worked out with new owner to rent the same unit with price difference and discount from his management, Evolve called me afterwards and refunded the money and paid the price difference for me. Overall was very difficult to rent this unit. Beach was close but unless you’re renting silver dunes beach chairs and umbrellas you have very limited place to put up your own umbrella, the renting umbrellas was literally sitting on top of each other and you have to duck under those umbrellas in order to go in water. I was trying to put up the umbrella by the water to play with my 10 months grand baby and was told to remove it because I cannot have the umbrella a front of renting umbrellas. Following days the renting umbrellas was put ip literally on the edge of water !!! Very inconvenient if you are not renting their beach services!!The unit was not cleaned properly, there was not welcome package in our unit, had to request twice parking permit and gate code and when brought to office attention the cleaning of unit was told the old management cleaning crew did cleaning before us and the new management cleaning crew will clean after us!!! Very unprofessional and we ended up cleaning the unit ourselves

Best vacation

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We love Silver Dunes. It is by far, the best place to stay when you have kids. It isn’t huge and crowded. They have s’mores at night for the kids by the pool and one night there was a little concert. My kids had the time of their lives. My 5 year old said it was the best days of his life!! We will be back every summer!

The units our relatives were updated and nice. Unit 22, not so much. Rust on refrigerator, paint peeling in spots, terrible tv, dingy kitchen sink. I am not above staying in a place that isn't great, but the price was not any less than the updated units.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Place was ok, kitchen had new stove/oven but was very small and mainly lacked a microwave. This made heating up leftovers and making some things for the kids VERY difficult. Kitchen light switch was temperamental and took some manipulating to turn on. Could use some updates. Location was convenient, walk to beach and use of heated pool all great.

This year was no exception. We had a small issue with the disposal and as soon as I reported it it was fixed within an hour. This was on a Weekend. The beach access is also amazing and our kids love it. We missed talking to George but the new crew is great as well.

Too crowded

We chose Destin not realizing it would be as busy and as much traffic as PCB (it was our first time there). We could not sit on the beach in front of the condos we were staying in because of all of the rental umbrellas and chairs. We had to wait until evening to actually enjoy spending time on the beach. The condo we stayed in was nice. But We did have to buy several dishes to cook with that we thought for sure would be there. We left them there for the next family to use. We will not be back but it is not because of our rental. It is strictly because that much chaos is not relaxing to our family. We like the more secluded areas.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: This was our 7th year staying at Silver Dunes, first time in unit 22. Compared to the other condos at Silver dunes that we have stayed at, this particular condo needs some upgrading. Several of the lights did not work and we did not have lights in the kitchen until the next day when the maintenance guy came and fixed it. There was a plug that was not secured in the wall and was a hazard for all. There was too much furniture, very limited walking space in master bedroom. It appeared that when living room furniture was replaced the old furniture was not removed just put in the bedrooms. I had to move a chair to get into the dresser. I actually stumbled in the master bedroom due to too much furniture in there. A couple of Balcony chairs were ripped and needed to be replaced. With all that being said we had a great view of the pool and beach from the balcony. We continue to love Silver Dunes and will be back next year.

Not coming back

First of all the stove top was broken. Could not cook on but two burners. Next night the microwave was not on but blew a fuse. Scared me enough to unplug all appliances so not to cause a fire. Called maintenance they came again and found out the disposal was on but not working .... again not acceptable... was scared a fire was gonna happen so no sleep another night.So no probably not gonna come back

Not a good stay

We got to the condo Thursday evening and first thing we saw was it was smaller than the pictures had shown, went to the bathroom to find the toilet sit was missing and the other toilet seat that was on was very loose. We had to call maintenance to come fix both. The master bedroom didn’t lock and we found trash behind the night stand. The washing machine didn’t work properly, I had to run it twice just to get our clothes cleaned. I understand things happen but we paid to much for this condo and have this many issues. We barely had any hot water and when my husband looked at it the pan was slam full, you may need to check on that. The guest bedroom had a hole in the wall and the master bedroom had entirely to much furniture to move around.

Home Away From Home

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have stayed at Silver Dunes since the 1980's. It is not a high rise which gives Silver Dunes the charm of being a family resort. The grounds are beautiful and the beach is just out your door. Unit 22 had what we needed although it is not my favorite unit....but how much time do you spend in your rental when you have a beach vacation? Silver Dunes is in the perfect spot with good restaurants located all around it including the Back Porch which is a short beach walk away. We also recommend Dewey Destin's Harborside seafood restaurant. And it is across the street from a water park, put-put and lots more. It offers tennis courts, basketball courts, shuffle board and many other activities free of charge. The office staff are very kind and receptive to comments. My only disappointment was while the pool is heated, it was not heated during our stay. I strongly disagree with their policy on when to turn the heater on. However, we love Silver Dunes and will continue to vacation there. It is our home away from home!
