Jahangir's Quafrangle
Lahore Fort, over 4000 years old and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the seat of the Mughal Empire in the 16th century. Famous Emperors of Indo-Pakistan like Akbar, Jahangir, Shah Jahan and Aurangzeb all contributed with beautiful buildings. It was heavily damaged under the Sikh occupation and it's structures, like many other Muslim structures in and around Lahore, were stripped of it's marble which was reused in their Golden Temple in Amritsar, India. The British had to carry out extensive repairs after defeating the Sikhs in the 19th century. One of the highlights on my Lahore trip.
