Great location! Needs a little TLC. Getting a little tired and worn. Some clean rugs and a new shower curtain would help. Also, need more than two sets of towels. Could be a really great place to stay otherwise.
First, let me start this review by saying that I have been very patient with Vacasa during this process, but it is nearly a month after they promised a refund for our stay.
We stayed here last year, you can probably go back and find my other review. Last year, the house was clean, well maintained, fresh mulch outside, well stocked. We came back because we loved the location. This year was NOT good. Upon entering the rental we were met with an intense chemical smell, not as clean, over grown weeds by the fire pit. It looked like it had just been left abandoned. After our first night my husband was sitting on the couch and saw a few tiny bugs. He investigated and found they were baby roaches. NOT wood roaches, but the nasty kind. There were 5 of them on the walls. Which means the smell was roach spray driving the roaches up and on the walls. Where there are babies, there are adults. We caught one, I have photos. We called right away and told them we were leaving and we wanted a refund for our stay. Faith D from Vacasa on June 25 promised me a refund with in 3-5 business days. It is now July 17 and there is no refund in sight. The only other response was from KC on July 13 saying âlocal team is working on updatesâ. I warned them in my responses that if a refund was not issued, then I would leave this review. I warn you not to stay at this location. Vacasa, you owe me a refund.
The main reason for my negative review is that I expected better from the folks that manage the property. I regrettably left a pair of earrings I'd received from my partner on our first anniversary on the bedside table at this cabin. I called Vacasa within hours of our departure to let them know. I tried calling the local office, but they kept rerouting me to the central call center, so I never got to talk to anybody nearby.
After several days of calling, I finally got an update that they were "never found." I know I left them, I know exactly where I left them, and I know that the team had all of that information the day that I checked out. There's either been a mismanagement of the process or some unfortunate dishonesty, and either way it means I've lost an item that's sentimentally important to me.
As for the property itself: it's well-located, but extremely hard to find if you're arriving at night. Be alert for that.
We enjoyed our stay but a few things were missing that would have made it better. There were no cloth dish towels or hand towels for the kitchen. There was a hair dryer even though I had called and been told there was not one in the unit. A floor lamp near the dining table would have been nice -- puzzles & games after dark were a challenge (we moved another lamp from behind the couch but someone reading a book there was out of luck. A recycling receptacle would be nice. Perhaps more hangers since there was no dresser to hold clothes. There was an issue with staining of white shirts that were washed -- didn't happen to all items--think maybe it was the hard water. These were just things we thought we would share.
This was the perfect place for me to have a solo winter retreat. Very cozy and quiet. Loved that I could walk to the lake, grocery store, and coffeeshop.
