We loved everything about this house! It sits on top of a hill with a huge dining window overlooking the valley and mountains in the distance, with blooming rhododendrons and a visiting hummingbird drinking from the feeder. It was quiet and peaceful and the kitchen was the best-stocked kitchen out of any of the probably 30 houses we've rented on vacations. It is a distance from anywhere and there are no local stores if you forgot something, but that was the only downside. We were close to Grayson Highlands for our day hike and our backbackers to do their overnighter, so I would say it was a great place to be. We were six adults and six young children and we were comfortable, with room to spare.
This is a beautiful, large well-furnished and stocked home
The home has 4 (-5) bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, large kitchen, beautiful front decks with gorgeous mountain views. I t is a wonderful place to have family time! It is pet-friendly (a requirement for us.) We stayed 3 nights-not nearly long enough. We loved the home. It is about 15-25 minutes from towns (West Jefferson is very nice) but convenient to New River water activities, hiking, Grayson Highlands State Park (loved the wild ponies! and hiking waterfalls,) Mount Jefferson hikes, etc.
We really enjoyed our stay! The house was extremely well-stocked and had everything needed to make us feel at home! Loved sitting on the rocking chairs on the porch and listening to absolute quiet except for the hummingbirds. Beautiful views! Everything was perfect!
The property is beautifully situated on top of its own little mountain. The views are absolutely stunning and is cozy and quiet. Some of the activities /or close store to pick up forgotten items require some trawl by car. If going during winter will suggest to have chains those mountain roads are curvy.
Overall would possible look at renting during the summer months to go tubing on the river or fishing.
My entire family enjoyed the stay 8 adults 2 children and 1 puppyđ€
We had a wonderful time relaxing and enjoying time with our family at this home-like retreat. The weather was glorious. We spent time each morning enjoying the sunrises from the porch, coffee in hand. The well-appointed home made it easy to make our meals, play games, or just enjoy connecting with each other.
We loved our stay here. It was a perfect getaway tucked away in a perfect location. Beautiful view and we enjoyed the outdoor fire pit. Spectacular front porch view. We will be back!
This was the perfect house for our family. Adult couples had their own bedroom and there was a large childrenâs bedroom with a bed for each child. The kitchen was fully stocked. We just had to bring all food and spices.
Perfect house for our family. Clean, plenty of room, well equipped kitchen, great beds, and fantastic front porch. Close to the New River State Park and all that West Jefferson has to offer. Virginia Creeper Trail is further than expected, but a great ride. Yard allows for the kids to get outside and play. We loved feeding the horseâs carrots and apples. Had a problem with the dehumidifier down stairs, but a phone call had it fixed that same morning. Thanks to the Tuckers for sharing lovely home.
We really enjoyed staying in this comfortable, clean, and well equipped home. It is a home that is laid out well for a large family to spread out in. Our youngest family members loved the downstairs space to play and sleep. Meanwhile the adults lived on the rocking chair front porch enjoying the beautiful Mountain View. Neighboring horses come close by and neigh hello. Many meals were eaten outside on the porch too. Nightly fires in the outdoor fireplace were enjoyed to the accompaniment of loads of fireflies as well as beautiful clear starry skies (no light pollution to dampen the views). The kitchen is so well equipped for producing fabulous family meals! We enjoyed our sonâs 13th birthday here with his grandparents, aunt/uncle, & cousins. We all felt like we had plenty of space. We enjoyed hiking in Grayson Highlands State Park daily. Massy Gap, Rhododendron Trail, Thomas Knob, Elk Garden, & the Pinnacles. A wonderful home base to come back home to! Thanks for having such a fabulous rental. We will definitely return!
A stunning setting for this beautiful family home. A well equipped, comfortable house with stunning views of the mountains. Quiet, secluded, it had everything we needed. We particularly enjoyed the porch and outside fireplace. The kitchen was well equipped and the kids enjoyed the croquet set. We were very pleased with our choice and would love to return one day.
Everything about this mountain home was perfect. It was very well stocked, very clean and had great extras like puzzles and games. We loved our weekend here!
6 adults and 5 children had a grand time at this property. The children really enjoyed being able to wander outside exploring, they found a snake skin and frogs and toads and absolutely loved it. When they weren't outside they were playing in the children's bedroom downstairs. The owner's thought of everything including child gates for the porch and the top of the stairs. Everything was wonderful!!
We booked this charming little mountain getaway for my husband, my sister, and my parents to stay in for my cousins wedding. The property itself is beautiful and the outdoor spaces were great- the large front porch with mountain views, etc. Unfortunately it rained all weekend so we did not get to use the outdoor fireplace but that looked lovely. The large living room with fireplace was also very nice and cozy and the kitchen had the basics we needed. The basement where my husband and I stayed, however, could use some updating. The entire basement just smelled really musty and was hard to tolerate. It needs maybe a dehumidifier and some air fresheners. Some of the spaces seemed infrequently used, and there were quite a few dead bugs on the floors of some of the rooms. The bathroom tub didnât drain well at all, so we showered in standing water. Also the hot water was used after just one 10 minute shower and we had to either stagger showers greatly (not ideal with getting ready for wedding events) or deal with a short, cold shower. The larger room basement bed was so hard we had to play musical beds due to waking up so sore, and we like firm beds! The other bedroom smelled worse, but with the fan on to ventilate it, the fan shook and made all kinds of noise. The space worked for our needs, but as advertised with so many sleeping spaces, I would say the basement ones need some updating to feel clean and be comfortable. Overall really beautiful property and views with nice, rustic gathering areas, but basement sleeping areas needed some extra attention.
We enjoyed our stay. We also had cellular coverage on this hill top location. Cellular coverage in the surrounding area is spotty at best.
Surprisingly had WiFi considering the somewhat remote location.
We loved our stay in Grassy Creek. The house is beautiful, well equipped, comfortable, and roomy. It was cool enough that we were able to have a fire inside a couple of mornings and outside in the evening. The kitchen was well equipped and easy for several people to prepare food and clean up without crowding each other. The beds were good and there were plenty of towels in the baths. The location, the horses that would visit occassionally, the quietness of the place were exactly what we wanted in our mountain vacation. The only drawback was a dirty gas grill upon our arrival. I alerted the rental management co and they sent someone out to clean it immediately. We really appreciated that! We sould definitely come back again!!!
We loved everything about this house....except the stink bugs. I don't know what they can do about this but we spent a good amount of time vacuuming these suckers up! That being sad, I freak out about bugs but I would still stay here again!
Everything was amazing about this house. Great location, beautiful view so serene and relaxing.
Water does get cold quickly in the showers so be warned!
We were in town to celebrate the life of our 97 yo grandmother, mother, and friend. We were able to host the entire local family after the celebration of life and had 2 families stay from out of town. There were plenty of games to keep the younger family occupied while the adult aunts, uncles and cousins were able to bbq and catch-up. We missed out on using the outdoor fireplace but weâre able to spend time on the porch enjoying the view and the family time. We are working on planning a yearly family reunion and would definitely book here again.
Beautiful, well equipped mountain home-beware stink bugs!
It was cold and drizzly when we pulled up to the chained gate. The code wouldnât work, but we got the rental agency on the phone and they gave us another code. Pulled up the steep driveway and made it into the lovely house. Picked bedrooms and unpacked, had dinner. Then realized there were stink bugs everywhere! We turned off most lights and kept doors closed and vacuumed several times, but couldnât get rid of them. The house is big, comfy, lots of games and everything youâd need is supplied. They just have to get Terminex in to eliminate the infestation!
