3 generations celebrating together
We rented this house for my mother-in-laws 70th birthday. We had 4 couples and 3 kids stay at the house for 5 nights. We hired the owners to cater a fabulous meal for 20 people. We loved staying in an old farmhouse with modern upgrades. The rooms were clean, well appointed and each bedroom had its own bathroom which we loved. The kids loved playing soccer in the field. We explored Armstrong redwoods, Jenner beach, and nearby towns. The owners were very kind. We would love to stay here again.

Magic Amongst The Redwoods!
We had such an incredible experience during our stay at Sabor Mexicano Farm! The Farmhouse is absolutely beautiful. The details and design elements are both thoughtful and welcoming. We had everything we needed and more for our wedding weekend in the redwoods! We held our wedding ceremony in the Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve with our reception to follow at Sabor Mexicano and it was pure magic! Our guests were blown away by the natural beauty surrounding them and loved the enchanting environment we chose for our special day! We highly recommend booking Sabor Mexicano Farmhouse, it will forever be a place that we hold dear to our hearts! Carmina and Jorge are the best hosts we have ever had. We are so grateful for them and look forward to staying at the farm in the future! :)

Disappointed with property owner
I thought I would be leaving a different review, because the stay itself was amazing but after we left the VRBO the owner tried to blame us for breaking an oven knob and then gluing it back on… which was not the case. Literally no clue what he is talking about. We did not break anything. He charged us $500 for having it “repaired.” Did not send a legit invoice or anything, no pictures, no proof. I’ll be reporting this to VRBO as this is not right. Now we will never be going back. Stay away unless you want to be charged for something you didn’t do.

Multi generational trip
We went on a trip with my grandmother, my parents, my siblings and their partners and my children. The house was perfect for a large group. Each bedroom has a bathroom giving tons of privacy and the AC is controlled in each room for that room. This meant in addition to beautiful cooking spaces everyone had the perfect amount of privacy and could be comfortable in their own space. There are so many things to do within 15 minutes everyone at every activity level was happy. We will hope to come back again!

Perfet house for a family reunion
Our family had a wonderful reunion in this house. The house is clean and comfortable. Common area is divided functionally so family members can have different activities at the same time. Yard is relaxing and peaceful. Our family had a nice walk to the great Armstrong Redwood Forest. One of the highlights of the stay was the great foods Jorge prepared for us. Fresh and delicious. Definately recommend the place.

Held a small yoga retreat here and it was great. The rooms were perfect, so rare to have private bathrooms. The space is lovely, so much attention to detail. Kitchen is well stocked!! The grounds are stunning. The weather was great so we did yoga on the decks - would have been harder if we needed to be inside. But for us it was great. So many areas for gathering, chatting, hanging out. I had a few questions during the weekend and the hosts were responsive right away. Wonderful place -- even better than the pictures. Highly recommend!!

Wonderful property with a great outdoor area, comfortable spaces to sleep, and a great kitchen.
My friends and I stayed here for the weekend and loved the home so much we didnt really feel like leaving the property most of the time. If you want a place to go and enjoy friends and family this is the place for you. The close proximity to a nice hike through some redwoods was an added bonus.

Wonderful Place for a Family Reunion
The home was was the perfect place for our extended family to come together and celebrate Thanksgiving. The home was the most well equipped home we've ever rented, and it had everything we needed (and more). On our first night Chef Jorge cooked us a halibut ceviche and paella dinner that was loved by all. Definitely a bonus to renting this already great home. One thing to note is that there is no cell phone reception (Verizon), which meant I could not pull up the access information online when we arrived. We were stuck outside the gate for a while.

Exceptional Place to Reconnect
Sabor Mexicano is an exceptional retreat to slow down and reconnect with friends and family. Carmina couldn't have been more accommodating and the house was immaculate and perfectly set up for our 4 families. The open floor plan was outstanding for group meals that lasted well into the night with cozy campfires and gatherings around the fire pit. Every room is ensuite with spa-quality touches and the beds were very comfortable. The house itself is fully redone to modern standards but with historic touches everywhere to make a joy to discover. We played games on the lawn, hiked the nearby Armstrong Redwood Forest, played cards long into the night, explored the nearby towns, beaches, and riverfront, and sat chatting while overlooking the beautiful grounds of the farm and hills beyond. If you are looking for an old-world retreat where each can have individual space but with endless possibilities to connect over good meals, discussions, or games - look no further. Highly recommend for family reunions, celebrations, and work retreats where a personal touch is desired.

What an amazing few days at this property. So many bedrooms and bathrooms. Incredible detail to renovations and the location couldn't have been better. We had the host Jorge and his Wife Carmina as private chefs both nights and the wood was really great. Especially the salsas and chocolate cake both nights ;)

We had the most amazing experience staying at this beautiful homestead. The food was exquisite, we booked Jorge for one of our meals. The accommodation was so comfortable, welcoming and beautifully designed. The surroundings were stunning and serene! It provided us with such a memorable occasion for my husbands big birthday celebration. Beautiful Sonoma Venue!
The pictures definitely do the place justice; it’s a beautiful property, with great amenities. We had a couple of immunocompromised folks staying with us and it was easy to hang out outside for hours on the various porches, or around the fire pit or in the hot tub at night when it got cold. Armstrong Redwoods is finally open again and an easy walk down the street; would definitely recommend checking it out. The only thing was that it took us a while to figure out the dishwasher; you need to run the hot water on the sink or it won’t start.

A group of 10 of us stayed in the house for three nights and everyone loved it! It has the perfect set up for large groups and is very well equipped. The house has everything you need and the beds are very comfortable. We visited wineries and had lunch out during the day and had down time and dinners at the house. There were plenty of areas for us to gather and the the property is lovely to walk around. On one night, we brought in a chef to make us Paella and it was perfect. I would rent this home again in a heartbeat and highly recommend it.

Nothing short of absolutely wonderful!
I cannot say enough nice things about our stay here. We had planned for a group of 14 but ended up with 9, so it’s a wonderful spot for a large group. It’s even nicer in person than the pics. Lots of indoor and outdoor dining for groups, lots of big and little gathering areas. We had dinner on the back deck one night, turned on the heaters and the string lights and it was perfection. Cocktails by the fire pit after and then some hot tub time. Each bedroom has an en suite bathroom making it perfect for groups, giving everyone their own space. The beds are SUPER comfortable. The space/decor are perfect. I wish I could live here and SO want to come back. Also, you feel secluded enough to relax and enjoy yourself, but you’re a straight shot 2 minute drive from downtown. Perfect! We had a few questions throughout the stay and Carmina was on sight or calling my cell faster than I could blink. Great home, great hosts, so glad they share their space for others to enjoy!

Magical get-away
I stayed at Sabor Vacation Retreat in July 2021. We were a group of six friends who have been taking mini-vacations for years. This was one of our favorite places we've stayed. It was large enough for everyone to have their own bedroom/bathroom and for us to spread out. The owners have done a wonderful job of restoring an old building and opening it up! The grounds were also amazing to wander through. I highly recommend staying here.

Amazing in every way!
What a gem! Jorge and Carmina's beautiful home was perfectly situated for exploring the Russian River and the Sonoma Coast. Prior to our trip, they were super responsive and provided helpful information about the area, including local favorites and nearby services/grocery stores. Upon arrival, self-check-in was a breeze, and we found the house to be expansive, stylish, and spotless. During our stay, we were pleased to discover that the house was well-stocked with every amenity imaginable to make our stay comfortable, relaxing, and fun. As a family with two young boys, we appreciated all of the extra little touches throughout that made the stay with the kids so easy including: air conditioning to keep the house cool during those warm summer days, beautiful woven baskets filled with beach towels for use after a dip in the hot tub or a day out and about, plenty of cozy blankets for those chilly nights, fun indoor and outdoor games for the kids throughout the common areas, fast WiFi for movie nights, a laundry room well-stocked with detergent/dryer sheets, and an amazing kitchen filled with every appliance and accoutrement we could need for cooking. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in Guerneville and look forward to staying at Sabor Mexicano the next time we are back in town!

Our recent stay at the farmhouse was everything we could've imagined and more! We held a small intimate wedding with 25 of our closest friends and family at the property and celebrated for the last four days... The property was everything we imagined it would be, and more! Fabulous home and setting
Our extended family recently came together to celebrate and the home and farm were the perfect place. There was so much room in the house to gather, the rooms and bathrooms were great and the house was very clean. We loved the property both inside and outside. We were thrilled with our meals cooked to order by Jorge and Carmina. Everything was delicious and it was great to eat some of the farm produce. Fantastic House. Fantastic Host. Fantastic Setting.
We celebrated my partner's 50th birthday party at Sabor Mexicano in Guerneville and it was simply fantastic. The house was more than big enough for several families to stay, the rooms were comfortable and beautifully appointed, and the kitchen and the grill were perfect to allow us to prepare and serve food for two dozen guests for an afternoon get together. There was an added event fee for a big group gathering, but it was completely worth it. We also enjoyed a gorgeous hike in the nearby redwoods — completely within walking distance. And the property provides great privacy. I can't thank Carmina enough for being so accommodating and so clear and prompt in her communications. Would love to plan another trip there in the future.

Stunning setting, beautiful house.
We stayed at Sabor Mexicano for 3 nights in December 2018 with a group of 10 adults and 5 kids. Every aspect of the rental was fantastic. The house itself is gorgeous, clean, and well-maintained. The living room has a huge fireplace which we kept going the entire time. The grounds are spectacular, with plenty of room for the kids to run around and explore. The location couldn't be better. It is a 5 minute walk to an incredible forest of giant redwoods. If you go early in the morning, it is totally empty. The town is close by and has some decent restaurants and grocery store. Many wineries are also close, and it's an easy 30 minute drive to the coast. The hosts were helpful and responsive. We also had them cater a dinner for us, which was delicious and we would highly recommend. We would definitely stay here again.

Breathtaking property and luxurious accommodations
We held an intimate weekend retreat for friends at the farm and absolutely loved it. We had a wonderful experience booking the property and communicating with the property management, which made our trip that much more seamless. The property and house are simply perfect. The details are beautiful and the views exquisite. We enjoyed cooking a big meal in that open kitchen, and roasted marshmallows by the bonfire before bed. Couldn't recommend more highly for a group getaway - proximity to downtown Guerneville and Russian River are also a huge plus!

Wonderful!
We really enjoyed our stay at Sabor Mexicano. We had 11 adults that the house easily accommodated with plenty of space to visit. The kitchen was wonderful for cooking, very equipped with any kitchen gadget you would need. It's a very beautiful location, we enjoyed a walk to the Armstrong State Natural Preserve. It was an easy to drive to many vineyards and tasting rooms. We would definitely stay there again!

Beautiful Retreat
Our non-profit organization held our Annual Board and Staff Retreat at the Sabor Mexicano Farmhouse and it didn't disappoint. The house was absolutely lovely and the grounds peaceful and private. Our group of 15 was the right size for group work sessions facilitated in the living room. Cancun in Berkeley catered our lunch (we dealt directly with the owner, Carmina) and it was DELICIOUS- even had wonderful vegan options. Lunch was set up outside on the long table and we all ate in lunch together in the sun. A nice break! We got to meet the resident German Shepherd who was very sweet and such a beautiful and friendly dog. We didn't stay overnight but we'd love to come back next year. Thank you!

Perfect home for a family reunion
Booked the home for 11 adults for a family celebration and oh my gosh, what an amazing place. There was so much to do! We walked around the gardens, visited the goats and chickens, and used the stone pizza oven. Note, it takes a while to heat but we took advantage of the time and roasted up some marshmallows for s’mores. The house is so well equipped...only thing we wish we had brought was a couple of board games. Carmina and Jorge, thank you!!!

Special Property -- perfect for a friends' weekend or a small family reunion
This is a very beautifully appointed house with a wonderful open kitchen/living/dining area that is perfect for a gathering of friends and family. We were a group of 6 friends from high school gathering for a two-night reunion, but the six bedrooms could accommodate at least twice as many as we were; it would be nice for a small extended family reunion. The organic farm and wonderfully restored home are set at the front of a gorgeous extended property filled with redwood trees. We took some great hikes up into the woods! Downtown Guerneville is just a couple of miles down the road, but once you are at the home you will hardly want to leave! The owner/farm founder (founder and chef at Cancun restaurant in Berkeley) lives up the hill in another home on the property, and we really enjoyed engaging with him and his sweet dogs; he was there to help with anything we needed and we paid to have him custom make us a fabulous meal on our second night there. We would go back in a heartbeat to this wonderful home in a fabulous part of Sonoma County!

Absolutely perfect!
I would say Sabor Mexicano is one of those homes that you catch yourself thinking twice about writing a good review in the hopes that this gem doesn't become too popular. In a nutshell, my wife and I had our wedding their and it was absolutely perfect. The Home: The whole house is so well thought out and decorated. The interior design was just our style: a rustic mix of old and new. There are so many nooks for people to sit and hang out. All the rooms have full bathrooms and were very comfortable. The kitchen was perfect for cooking for large groups and had all the dishs/pans/cups you could need. The outdoor patios were perfect for sitting out and enjoying the wonderful afternoons and there's even had a large wood fire oven and bbq that we didn't get to use. The Property: We had our wedding ceremony in the redwoods behind the house. It was a little clearing at the end of a hike up a fire road, but it was the perfect place to have the wedding. We made it work with a couple shuttle cars. There is also a large grass lawn, vegetable gardens, and some farm animals on the property. Location: The home is really close to the Armstrong redwoods and across the street from the Forest view apple ranch, not to mention close to the Russian river and beyond. So, many things to do! Batya was great at explaining all the details and just a joy to speak with. Carmina was very responsive and had a everything how we wanted when we arrived. I can't wait to get another opportunity to go back.

Luxury in the woods!
When we were planning our wedding, we were looking for a house large enough to host our wedding party. We found Sabor Mexicano Farm and the fact that we could host the actual wedding and reception there, too, was just icing on the cake. The home is stunning and perfectly maintained. It's large enough so everyone has their own room and bathroom (though we made the singles double up) and there's plenty of room to relax and unwind. The wedding itself was met with rave reviews and our guests were impressed not only with the beautiful house but also the beautiful setting. Working with the owner of the property as well as the staff that runs the non-profit associated with the farm was good as well, everyone we encountered whether on the phone, via email, or in person, was absolutely lovely. I would highly recommend a stay here and hope to go back again someday.

Pure Heaven!
We loved Sabor Mexicano. It was perfect for a girls weekend trip - we were celebrating my best friend's bachelorette. We spent Saturday wine tasting in the Russian River Valley and we had plans to go to Healdsburg Saturday night for dinner and ended up cancelling because we just wanted to spend more time at the house. Bedrooms are beautiful and the bathrooms are fantastic for a house full of girls. 0 complaints! We all want to go back.

Memorable experience
I’ve always said if I could start all over again, I’d live in a farm, so for our 45th anniversary my daughter, who had stayed at Sabor Mexicano in a work related retreat, suggested we come to Sabor Mexicano for a family reunion. What a wonderful experience. 12 of us, including 2 grandchildren, spent 4 days in an idyllic, pastoral and very private farm. The house is lovingly restored and decorated, with all modern amenities, yet retaining the feel of a rural farmhouse. Kitchen is well stocked with dishes and any utensils you might need to feed a large group. Plenty of seating, indoors and out. One night we used the wood burning pizza oven outdoors to make individual pizzas, for another meal we grilled steaks outdoors. The children enjoyed visiting the goats and the chicken coop. What a great learning experience, picking fresh laid eggs for breakfast! Wish we could have had access to the gardens – even just to weed if not to harvest the produce, just to experience farm life. Carmina, the owner, welcomed us when we arrived, and answered our every text asking for help/information promptly. The owners have two dogs, Duvalin (a big one, not sure of breed), and a smaller one. They would scamper down to the house late pm’s and we all enjoyed their company, especially the children. It felt just like home! We all hiked in Armstrong State Park, a short 10 minute walk from the farm. Runners in our group enjoyed the trails. The town of Guerneville is a 5 minute drive, and the town tennis courts were enjoyed by the tennis players in our group. We also spent one morning kayaking at Johnson’s beach. All in all, truly a very memorable experience. When we return, we will for sure look into one of the Bay Area Green Tours – this trip there just wasn’t enough time to do all.

Perfect, unique, and private.
My husband and I chose this property to celebrate our wedding weekend. The house feels like it's hidden in the redwood forest and like it's it own island. 16 of us slept comfortably in the house and were easily accommodated. The owners are very communicative and the access to the animals takes the experience to a whole new level!

A stunning home perfect for large groups
12 of us stayed here for a bachelorette party in April 2017 and what a fantastic weekend it was. The property is amazing and the farm house is gorgeous – the perfect balance of modern and rustic. Every person in our group had their own bed and each room has it's own bathroom. The house is completely stocked with all the appliances and serve ware you could ever need. The owners, Jorge and Carmina, are amazing. We hired the two of them to prepare Jorge's famous open-flame Paella and it was delicious. It's the perfect meal for a special occasion. I will, without a doubt, stay here again soon!
