What is The 100 Collection™?

The 100 Collection™ imprint on a property indicates it is part of a collaborative effort to set the gold standard for vacation rentals. The professionals caring for these properties must meet the highest hospitality standards. Additionally, properties in this collection must pass specific quality, safety, and cleanliness inspections. Only locally owned and/or operated vacation rental brands are invited to be considered for this stamp of approval, which is issued by a trusted peer-to-peer collective of leading industry owners and managers.

There's a moment — usually somewhere between spotting the trout pond and stepping onto the screened porch with its wood-burning fireplace and panoramic mountain views — when it becomes clear this is not a typical vacation rental. This is a property. Nearly six acres of it, private and wooded, with a creek threading through, Shortoff Mountain on the horizon, and a contemporary four-bedroom home at the center of it all that manages to feel both architecturally impressive and genuinely comfortable at the same time.

The bunk house above the garage seals the deal for anyone traveling with kids. The steam shower in the primary suite seals it for everyone else.

A Home Designed Around the View - Floor-to-ceiling windows in the great room ensure that Shortoff Mountain is never more than a glance away, framed by a soaring fireplace that anchors the space with the kind of presence that makes the room feel complete even before anyone sits down. The open floor plan flows naturally from the great room into the dining area and out onto the screened porch — a continuous indoor-outdoor sequence that keeps the mountain in sight from the kitchen, from the table, and from the rocking chairs on the porch where most evenings will inevitably end up.

The screened porch, for the record, earns its place as the soul of this property. Wood-burning fireplace. Classic rockers. A plush patio sofa. A bar-height dining table for casual meals with a view that stretches further than you expect. Cool mountain evenings were made for this porch, and this porch was made for them.

A second uncovered deck off the foyer — gas grill, comfortable seating, ready for whoever calls lunch duty — adds another outdoor dimension, and the main-level primary bedroom connects directly to the back deck and screened porch for mornings that begin outside before the rest of the house wakes up.

Sleep: Everyone Gets Something Worth Having - The upper-level primary suite is quietly exceptional — wood-paneled ceilings overhead, a steam shower, a freestanding soaking tub, and heated floors that make the bathroom feel less like an amenity and more like a destination. A loft with additional seating sits just outside, and two more bedrooms with private bathrooms complete the upper level with comfort and privacy for additional guests.

Then there's the bunk house. Perched above the garage with its own full bath, two sets of bunk beds, a sectional sofa, and a wide-screen TV, it's the kind of space that kids claim immediately and refuse to leave — which, from a group-travel perspective, is exactly what it's supposed to do. The adults get the steam shower. The kids get the bunk house. Everyone wins.

The Acres Are the Amenity - Nearly six private acres means the property itself is worth exploring before you ever leave for a trail. Follow the creek. Find the spring-fed trout pond tucked into the landscape — a genuine surprise that rewards whoever wanders far enough to discover it. The mountain air here is the kind that makes you understand why people build retreats in these hills and then spend the rest of their lives finding excuses to come back.

Downtown Highlands is close enough to make every meal, hike, waterfall, and shop easily accessible. Far enough away that none of it intrudes unless you want it to.

Come for a long weekend. Start negotiating a return trip before you leave.
