We stayed there for just one night to attend a function in Underberg,so was just needing a bed.Therefore did not use the facility.However did notice the grounds of the hotel were well kept and the pool looked clean and safe.Staff were very friendly and helpful.We arrived early and they were able to check us in and rooms were ready.the rooms and hotel are clean and comfortable.Unfortunately no hot water in the morning but that could have been because another room had drained the geyser just before we had a bath.Underberg and Himeville’s accommodation prices are pretty high so I think the price for Himeville arms was very reasonably priced.The property had secure parking and there was a security guard who was incredibly helpful.

A nice historical hotel
Huge room, kind stuff, all amenities in the room. Nice spacious garden, very beautiful old lounge and restaurant, pub. Situated in the center of beautiful Himeville, only some minutes drive from Underberg. Very good value/money, i would stay here again.

Stains on towels. Towel had rips in them. Floors were dirty on arrival. Furniture old and stained.

I’d like to be kinder: this should be an olde worlde classic- built in 1904, it has good bones. But the management has let things run down and failed to invest in upgrades. No WiFi available, pool is small and green with algae; breakfast expensive and slow. All over, could be a lot better managed. I’d give it a 4.

Business trip - over all acceptable.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely lovely and the coffee was great. We were a bit disappointed that the TV was broken. TV is a comfort looked forward to at the end of a hard day when working away from home. Bedside lamp shades need to be replaced as they are crumbling. The shower in the bath needs a shower curtain or the floor ends up flooded. Otherwise an adequate stay if you are working in the area.

Himeville Booking in Disappointment
Reservation issues as receptionist could not find my booking and payment. My mobile had gone flat so I couldn't access my confirmation details. What made matters worse was the fact that I was dog tired after a long drive and the receptionist would not hand over the keys without payment. This misunderstanding was rectified the next morning but the damage was done. Trainee staff should be supervised at all times

Quaint, rustic
Quaint hotel, obviously going through some changes and updates so a few hiccups in getting checked in and having the correct rooms allocated to us, check out was also a little stressful! Rooms need some maintenance but all in all, it was a pleasant night stay. Lovely staff and Managers.

Lots of charm
This country hotel in the middle of nowhere in Africa is more than a hundred years old. It has lots of atmosphere and charm, but the management will have to deal with a few issues, especially plumbing and cleanliness of the pool. The pub is like a museum and the food is excellent.

Unfortunately the hotel was overbooked due to a system issue but the manager Derick went out of his way to ensure suitable accommodation and his professional customer service went way beyond expectations. A beautiful old hotel with friendly staff. Excellent food. I cannot rate the rooms as we did not stay at the hotel. We will definitely return and stay there another trip

DISAPPOINTED
Upon arrival we were told that the Hotel was double booked and that they have found alternative accommodation. We were very disappointed and was tired as we have spent the whole day on the road. Although management has offered alternative accommodation and invited us to dinner, it was still not very professional as they did ot try to reach us before hand to explain the situation, we could have made alternative travel arrangements and the cost for overnight was less than our payment, therefore I feel unhappy and got the feeling they gave the larger group guests our accomodation. Will not refer anybody to this hotel.

We booked for 3 people and then upon arrival was told we need to go into the backpackers room although we booked and paid for an actual room. The staff was very unhelpful and unfriendly. The waitress couldnt speak english and mixed up food orders. Service was all around very poor.
