Lack of property care
The house is in a beautiful location, no denying that. However, the property was not clean. The kitchen worktop was cluttered with unclean gadgets with an extension cable and wires everywhere that obviously didn't pass any safety checks. There was opened food in the fridge (including mayonnaise), goodness knows how long it had been there. There was a lot of food in the freezer some with dates on of over 2 years old. The bedroom had an infestation of wood beetles, which were also apparent throughout the house. The wardrobes were unusable due to being unclean but littered with insect repellant tablets, the medicated smell was awful, rendering the wardrobes unusable, we had all our clothes hung up in the bathroom upstairs. The downstairs bedroom door and windows had gaps where the insects came in, sealant has been used very messily to try and fill up the chunks of wood eaten by the insects. The grass had not been cut for our arrival and was therefore uncomfortably long half way through our stay. We were not told how to use the oven, filter, TV, or any gadgets. The pool cover was not working for our whole stay - the pool lost all its heat overnight and was not comfortable enough to swim in until mid-late afternoon. We also had to clean it out every morning due to the lack of a cover. This is also not in line with French law that demands a pool is fenced off or has a cover with an alarm - good job we didn't have any children with us!!
