« Located almost half way on the Shimanami Kiado steps from the sea in a quite little town. The room was minimal. The hotel doesn’t offer amenities and only two coffee bags and no milk. Checkin wasn’t till 4pm and after a long day cycling in summer an earlier check in would have been appreciated. What we payed for a small amount of time in the room was high. We also had a shared bathroom and toilet. The restaurant was underneath the rooms and you could hear people talking. »

« Our stay at Shiomachi Roya in Tomonoura was one of the highlights of our trip to Japan. I was impressed by the renovations done to turn this old merchant house into an inn. I liked the design and decor. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Because this particular house (Roya) has only 4 rooms to stay in, the staff are located at another sister inn literally just around the corner, one minute away.
