Perfect location, wonderful rooms and grounds.

Perfect. Upstairs apartment is accessed by stairs (not handicap accessible), but parking and access are excellent. Hot Tub and small swimming area, too.

Sadly, a disappointing experience. Besides the dustiness, strong smell of gasoline going up the stairs, the biggest complaint is the place doesn’t match the photos. The pool and fire pit are for a nearby property that allows access to the pool. Very misleading and disappointing. Yes, if you read the entire description it says there are two properties but how many think the photos go with what you are reserving. Decent value but we won’t return.

Peaceful, Quiet Getaway off the Beaten Path

An oasis not far from home

We absolutely loved this property. It felt like a very private resort with absolute peace and quiet. We spent time as a family at the pool and then making dinner in the apartment and enjoying our drinks on the deck, watching the sunset. The pool is an amazing masterpiece that frames the surroundings like a frame. Just incredible. The host was so kind and thoughtful. It was the perfect weekend. We left exhausted because we finally relaxed for a couple days. The town of Sutter Creek is a gem. Like a Hallmark movie

Paradise in Amador County

Well this is a well kept secret... I hesitate to go over board, altho I could, about this place because I don't want it to be too booked when I want to go again.lol. Charlotte the property manage is over the top kind, professional, communicative, and wecoming. My husband and I celebrated our 49th anniversary here and we were not disappointed. The pool is truely magnificient. There was plenty of quiet and alone time and then there was some social time with Robin and Joe,residents that live there on the property full time. Lovely people. The view from the pool is a of vast rolling hills and a valley where they meet. The infinity pool washes over the wall when the water fall is on. Lots of great sun exposure, which we like but plenty of shade too if thats your preference. The fire table would be great in the fall or winter but it was a bit too hot for that when we were there. The apartment was immaculate and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable. The view from the kitchen window is , again, a lovely display of rolling hills and quiet beauty. I feel like I've found a treasure not too far from our home in South Lake Tahoe. Thank you, Betsy and Charlotte for sharing this blessing with us!!! You are special people, and we thank you for your generousity. We SHALL return.!!!

This location was close to downtown Sutter Creek but far enough out to be peaceful and had breathtaking views overlooking an infinity pool and valley. The hosts were very accommodating and kind. There were wineries, shopping and restaurants close by, but you won't want to leave the beautiful pool.

Lovely and serene

We very much enjoyed our stay here. The pool was beyond expectations and the apartment was clean and comfortable. Charlotte was very responsive to our questions and Betsy made us feel very welcome. Sutter Creek and other small towns nearby were fun to explore. I highly recommend staying here!

Great affordable option for Sutter Creek

Although we stayed here during the Caldor fire so it was pretty smokey, we still enjoyed our stay. The pool and jacuzzi are amazing and I can't wait to come back when the skies are clearer to see what the view from the pool is like! We did have a minor communication issue but Charlotte and Betsy went out of their way to make it up to us. The apartment itself is more spacious than I was expecting. When you're checking in and heading into the barn, make sure you go all the way to the top of the stairs because there is actually another door halfway up on the left that we originally thought was our apartment and then realized it was other people that live there below us! Overall though a great alternative to a hotel when staying in the Sutter Creek area.

Beautiful and restful experience

The location is just a few miles from Main Street in Sutter Creek. Charlotte was very communicative and made our stay special. She even gave us a nice wine to enjoy. (Thank you Charlotte). The property is breathtaking, we saw deers, quail birds and other bird species in the area. The apartment was comfortable and had all the amenities needed. The gorgeous pool is just a short walk to the main house. Our family enjoyed the pool very much taking in the waterfall, spa and the beautiful views. We plan to return very soon.

Weekend refuge

My girlfriend and I really enjoyed the Sunset Hills property. It’s easy to get to from anywhere in Amador County, but once there you feel calm and privacy, despite being next to the owners (amazing) house. We found it comfortable and well stocked for a long weekend. The setting and views are better than advertised. An ideal spot to relax and enjoy one of the last best places in Northern California. Thanks to our hosts and property manager Charlotte. Great help and communication.

Great stay

It was a very clean and spacious place. Only wish we had known it had 24 step staircase, pretty steep. It should be disclosed in the write up. Some of us are elderly, and might not be able to do it. Thank you

The pool was stunning! If you like peace and serenity this is the go to place. The views of the sierra foothills (a.k.a. the Motherload) were refreshing to the spirit. I can imagine it would be great if you were a birder. I haven't seen that many quail in a long time Both Sutter Creek and Jackson are great if you like browsing for antiques. The hosts were very friendly and made me feel welcome. I hope to return someday.

Wonderful getaway in a beautiful and serene setting!

The grounds we stayed on were just beautiful and thoroughly relaxing- retreat like! The pool and hot tub are amazing with a breathtaking view. The unit was charming and just what we needed!

Wonderful weekend getaway

We are looking to do basically nothing for a weekend... just be in a beautiful place to relax and play with our two children. This was perfect. It was lowkey and lovely with comfy accommodations, very helpful and gracious hosts, and more than the things we needed already onsite. We ordered out and ate in with zero trouble. Sunrises and sunsets on the veranda or at the pool were gorgeous. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Getaway

Sunset Hill Ranch is the perfect place for our family. We were there for 3 days and 2 nights. The compound of the ranch is big and it’s a great place for kids to run around and play. The patio is the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful sunset. We like the trees and the wildflowers too. We felt welcome and comfortable throughout our stay.

What a treat!

Stayed here for a couple days and cannot say enough good things about it! The host and the pool are the best parts! Betsy is unbelievably welcoming and made us feel like family and right at home immediately. We will be back!

Great Getaway Spot

Lots of fun stuff nearby, very communicative manager and owner. Great sunset views and lots of quail and other birds to enjoy. Bed was quite firm and cooking supplies were fairly basic, but we made it work and had a great stay! Really appreciated their flexibility with access to the property.

Awesome apartment, great views

This apartment is the perfect jumping off point for adventures in the Sierra. Full kitchen, bath and living room. Very comfortable, and just a few minutes from Sutter Creek and Volcano. Highly recommended

Secluded and quite place to decompress

The stay was very relaxed and the property is in a awesome location. Nice clean rooms, spacious with all the basic comforts one needs to get away. Very close to good food, drinks and music. You wake up to birds singing in the trees, go for a nice stroll along quite roads and drive up to Indian Grinding Rock state park and enjoy couple of hours of solitude. Thank you Charlotte and the Sanders for a memorable stay.
