Disappointing and not as advertised
Unfortunately, we came away from our honeymoon stay at the Grand Hotel feeling disappointed. The hotel pitches itself as luxury, but it fell below this standard for us many times in our trip, and the staff have no interest in making your stay special unless you have a child with you.
It took 30 minutes to get checked in. We saw families coming in receiving custom checking experiences, while we just had a bunch of admin issues and made it into the park late. Our room hadn't been cleaned since the last guest. Half-eaten macarons, worn bath robes and the bathroom a mess. The staff were quick to jump on this and help resolve it, but it all took the shine off. On their website, they say each room gets a themed suitcase and a frog plush to keep as part of the stay. Being big Wes Anderson fans, we were excited about this themed momento and were looking forward to it; however, our room didn't have one in so we once again had to speak to the front desk. We asked and were told they are only allowing rooms that have children to stay to have them. This is not the wording in their website which literally says 'for all ages'. I asked if we could buy one, being fans of the hotel, but it was a firm no. It became clear throughout our stay in the hotel that they had no interest in including adults in any of the interactivity of the hotel. A real disappointment as we both really wanted to engage with it all and just got made to feel like we were not meant to be there.
