My wife and I stayed at this property for 10 days in mid-August 2018. Overall, the property has a lot of the big things right.......a back deck that extends nearly to the water's edge with a 180 degree view of the water and within walking distance to Kailua-Kona (about a 10 minute walk). It has its own driveway for parking and the property itself is fairly private. Doors to back deck all open out to let the wave sounds and tradewinds in. Very nice.
Free, secured wi-fi was a nice amenity in the house considering spotty mobile coverage on the island generally. TV is cable/sat although we didn't use it much.
The Washer and Dryer are outside (because if they were inside it would just make the house hotter and more humid! ). They worked great and were very handy.
House fairly well equipped with kitchen pots and pans/utensils, microwave, etc. Closet full of fins, snorkel and water sport gear.
Snorkeling in front of the house itself was surprisingly good. You just enter the water from the small beach about 100 yards to the North and snorkel back to the house. Lots of reef fish, some turtles also. Bring binoculars, Dolphins pass by in pods about 2-3 times a day.
No Air /Conditioning, but LOTS of fans available to use and place around the house. When we were there, it was nearly record heat and humidity on the big island (90 degrees and about 79% Humidity). It takes a few days to acclimate to that kind of climate. No way around that.
The fans helped a lot, but the trade winds died down a lot during our stay and it was a challenge to keep the house cool in the middle of the day. We just went out and enjoyed the island and the got in the water during mid-day to avoid the heat/humidity.
Okay, the big things about the property are great...but.... some little things kept us from giving this property a higher rating:
When we got there, house was not cleaned completely. People spray suntan lotion and other things in the tropics on themselves and it gets on the walls, cabinet doors. They were not wiped down and they should have been. The floors also needed a quick mop.
The place needs to upgrade a few things..... Door knobs, latches, the hinges on the Water-facing doors are rusted and need replacing. Outside chaise lounges need repair. Not huge things, really.... but it does cheapen the look of the place a bit.
Fix/address these items and you would find your ratings on this property going higher.
