Cherchant un bon rapport qualité prix j'ai longtemps regardé les avis et cet établissement m'a attiré... Ayant fait pas mal d'hôtels sur Kampala avec des nuits hors de prix et un service pauvre avec un lit pauvre j'ai basculé sur les petits établissement. Situé dans un lieu bien sécurisé pas loin du Nakumate (super marché) le lieu est calme et le service sur mesure. La chambre moderne avec une eau claire et bonne pression, pas de coupure d'eau ni d’électricité...la faiblesse c'est internet qui de mauvaise qualité. Je recommande cette place.

Nice, clean, large rooms with big bathrooms. Never saw anyone in the pool! But a great place to relax and eat. Wifi was good. Only problem was the loud music from the poolside area at night until 10pm so if you need to sleep before then and are sensitive to noise, perhaps avoid this hotel

Staff was very good. Internet acceptable. There is NO gym at the hotel despite what is advertised online. Pool is tiny. Location ok but no easy access to shopping, restaurants by foot.

Nice location, good stay
We had a good two nights at Urban in Kampala. The location was on a quiet street, which was very nice compared to other neighborhoods in the city. The hotel staff replied quickly to emails and arranged a driver to pick us up at the airport. He was more expensive than some other drivers who were recommended to us but the ease of the hotel booking for us was worth it. The restaurant at the hotel was fine for a late dinner and breakfast each day was a nice buffet with eggs cooked to order. The rooms were fine - a little water damage in the bathroom above the shower, but otherwise clean. Appreciated the 4 bottles of water daily.

A great place to stay. Not much from the outside but rooms surround a lovely internal courtyard. Rooms simple, comfortable and clean. Service always prompt and friendly. Food not at all bad.

Not bad, but could definitely be improved.
The staff at reception are friendly and professional. Unfortunately, when I arrived in my room, the floor was dirty despite my having booked the room in advance. There was a blackout on the second night of my stay and the air conditioning stopped working. They were going to upgrade me to another room, but just as they were asking me to pack to change rooms, the air conditioning began to work again.

We came to check in at around 5pm. They advised us that they gave our room to another person. I informed that this was not proper business they wanted us to go to another room and told us that we would have to pay $30 more I advised them that it was not good business practice for them to do this. They then advised us that they can put us in another room until tomorrow and then told us we will then have to move to the room we paid for on that day when I asked to speak to a manager they advised me that the manager was not there.the next day after breakfast my wife and I was leaving to do our tour. the front desk runs outside to ask us when we would be back after stating to them that we were not sure of the time they advised us that must tell them something because we need to change rooms. This back and forth cnversation resulted in us being late to our tour and causing us to miss out on a lot of time. When we got back to the hotel they told us we need to change rooms because they needed that room for a customer. We ask was our room ready they told us NO and that we have to move our stuff out of the room. I advised them that I need to speak with the district or regionial manager they had the Chef come out to talk to me. Who has nothing to do with the booking of the rooms. Finally after about 45 miniutes they advised me that the room was clean and ready for us to move in. This was my wife and I first visit to Uganda and to this establishment. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL!

The rooms and set up (around the pool) is cozy and has a great "feel". The location is convenient if you need to be in town. The rooms are great, with big windows and lots of light. The gym equipment was broken when I was there but the area is safe so you can jog outside as well. The restaurant is great with some excellent stone oven pizza.

the hotel is a good value option in an area surrounded by more expensive hotels.Most hotels in the aera seam to have problems with their tv's and the gym really isn't a gym but a small room with one exercise bike in it and 3 weights. food was nice and staff pleasant .Pool to small n shallow to swim laps in but perfectly adequate for lounging in or letting kids splash around in it

Great place
The room I received was in an older building poolside. The room was comfortable, good bed, Wi-Fi and a/c. However, the lights were quite dim so in the evening the room would be quite dark. Sound isolation in room not great I was accompanied by 90's music played at the restaurant at night - depending on your taste of music this is either positive or negative. Next time I stayed at the place I received a room in the modern building which was better in terms of sound isolation, lighting and amenities. Restaurant is good and the service at the hotel great.

rena rum men poolen och restaurangen inte bra
Bodde på hotellet i en vecka. Hotellet har stora och väldigt rena rum. Servicen var bra. Restaurangen är ingen höjdare och frukostutbudet var väldigt begränsat. Det finns inga solstolar vid poolen. Poolen ligger mitt inrestaurangen vilket gör det obekvämt att bada när andra äter och tittar på en. Gymmet var väldigt litet.

Not as good as expected
Based on very high customer ratings, I expected much better. Hotel is clean and generally well maintained. However, a few things are worth mentioning. The beds are not very good and the pillows are worse. The rooms have the keycard holder by the door where the card should be placed in order for the lights in the room to work, so when you leave and take the keycard with you, the light will go off if you forgot to turn them off. Common thing in a lot of hotels these days. What’s not common is to connect the AC to the same system. This is Africa, not Norway. When I leave, I want my AC to work. The only solution is to go and ask the front desk for the second keycard. The food in the restaurant is not very good. It’s absolutely safe and thoroughly cooked, just doesn’t taste very good. Staff, although nice, is either undertrained, such as at restaurant (inability to properly run an expresso machine, for instance), or not allowed to take any responsibility or make any decisions. You can ask the front desk if the sky is blue, let alone anything of substance, and the answer will always be, let me check with somebody and I will let you know. Let you know not in a few minutes or in an hour, but tomorrow. This all probably sounds like needless complaining, but having been working in Uganda for several years now, trying this hotel was a one time thing for me, I would not be going back. It is absolutely overpriced for the money.

Staff are excellent and the main point about the hotel is it really is a nice quiet haven in a very busy city.

Automatic tipping!
Watch out for the restaurant bill - there was an extra tip (USD 2) on my bill at check-out. The reception's explanation? "Sometimes the waitress adds a tip to pay for a beer after work." Wow! That was a first for me!

Urban City Blue is the best quality price!
I love that place. It is a boutique hotel only 3 minutes drive from city centre but so quiet. Beautiful rooms, very clean and very confortable with balcony to enjoy the view of the garden. The little restaurant remains one of the best in town and is very affordable, with a very good choice of various cuisine. Staff is lovely and courteous. And for business traveller, wifi is excellent and the place ideal for meetings clients. I would stay there over and over again.

Didn't really have a pool view as booked but if I looked over the side of the balcony I could see it. But my balcony was nice and private so it worked out well.

Exceeded My Expectations
My experience at the Urban by CityBlue was great on all fronts. I have visited other hotels in Kampala, and this hotel was noticeably better in every way. The rooms were more modern than other hotels, the wifi was much better, the food was excellent, the staff was kind and helpful and the shower was hot with good water pressure. The open area with the pool gave a relaxing atmosphere and was a great place to relax by the pool. I didn't swim because the pool was too close to the restaurant tables, but it added to the overall setting. The fitness center is quite small, so if you want to get a good workout, you will need to figure out some in-room options. Overall, I had a great experience and would highly recommend it. I am planning travel back to Kampala in a month, and I will be booking this hotel.

It is a quite hotel, where you can retreat to and relax from the Kampala buzzle. Clean. Good food.
