Browse Kapaa's old-town shops and coffee stops, explore the Wailua River by kayak, or spend time at nearby beaches before heading out for dinner. This is a friendly, less formal part of Kauai that works well for families who want a beach-forward stay with plenty to do nearby.



Getting Around:

Kapaa sits along Kauai's Royal Coconut Coast, about 15 to 20 minutes from Lihue Airport. A rental car is recommended for exploring the island, though the main strip along Kuhio Highway is walkable, with beaches, shops, restaurants, and the popular coastal path all within easy reach on foot. Grocery stores and casual dining are close by. Parking is generally available at condos and along the street, making this an easy, low stress base.
