My husband and I went to Maui with our two young adult children. We did a lot of adventuring on the island and found this to be a great location for what we wanted to do. The condo is located in an upscale community with a beautiful moderately sized beach. The kitchen was well appointed for cooking at home and dining on the lanai. The bedrooms were dark in the morning helping us sleep in a little. We had some maintenance issues that were addressed. The only thing missing was a beach umbrella which I went out and purchased and left with the beach chairs. Would stay again and recommend.
Very well maintained and luxurious condo with lots of room. Fantastic ocean views, and close to absolutely amazing beaches. Every morning you get up to see paradise out the back sliding glass doors. Really enjoyed the stay
I brought mom here for some much needed R&R after dad died. We arrived after hours, with an Ali'i Resorts staff member waiting to greet us inside the condo. It was dark and we had trouble navigating our way to the condo (mom doesn't walk well or far). When we finally made it, the staff oriented us to the workings of the condo. When we went to bed, unfortunately, all the bed linens were dirty and it was too late to call housekeeping. The next morning, Ali'i Restorts management contacted me and immediately began to make right this oversight. They went above and beyond to make the rest of our stay enjoyable. This is the 2nd trip we have enjoyed at this facility and I firmly believe that the dirty linens was a singular mishap and not their normal M.O. I am very pleased with the service of the management company as well as the owners of this condo. We love coming here and definitely look forward to returning! Thank you.
If you want to be away from the hustle and bustle, this is it. Still close enough to town, exactly 2 miles to Wailea Mall. Expensive, but you get what you pay. Ground floor lanai is supreme.
This was our 3rd trip to Maui and first time staying in the southern Maui area (we typically stay Lahaina side). I can say that Makena Surf exceeded our expectations. It hit every checkbox - value, location, convenience, and experience. Ever visit somewhere and say I'd like to live here? That was our experience.
Although we booked through VRBO, Ali'i Resorts manages unit C-103 among a number of other units. This was our first experience with Ali'i and they were wonderful as well.
The property is beautiful. Well kept grounds within very short walking distance to a pristine beach. There are multiple buildings on property that offer different views of Maui and different price points as well. Our particular unit was well maintained and had all the amenities you'd expect with a small family (2 young girls).
You're situated almost on top of one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. The beach and surf on location is good. If you feel like traveling to another amazing beach, you're only 5-15 min away from some of the best choices. You're also close/far enough away from Wailea that you have access to good locations to eat, drink, and shop.
I can't say enough good things about this property. I will only say that this property should satisfy anyone regardless if it's your visit to Hawaii or your a regular.
Makena surf is a special property - very private because of its location and what a great location (one if not the best sandy beaches and no crowds) and the landscaping/surroundings is lush!
- Stayed March 2018
- Very clean and spacious; excellent condition. Well stocked. Property managers excellent; resort pools, location, tennis courts, access to beach all top notch.
- No exercise facilities (or access to another property).
- If you are sensitive to traffic noise be aware the bedrooms are in the back of the unit and very close to the "highway" that leads to deep south Makena. How close? If you took 30 paces off the back patio you'd be in the middle of the road. Traffic starts/stops with sun up/sun down. Really, this is the only negative.
