We have stayed at other properties in Maui in the past and used to walk to Wailea Beach Resort for our daily Starbucks fix. We have always thought the property was just the right amount of "fancy" (big, grand spaces, open air design, very elegantly laid out property) but with a definite chill/older property vibe. Getting to stay here was so much fun and we absolutely LOVED our time at the hotel. I walked the extensive and absolutely beautiful beach paths every morning getting over 12,000 steps daily. Spending so much time in the immediate area and walking through/past all the surrounding properties, I think WBR has the best orientation to the ocean and the most usable oceanfront property. Note that there is no beach immediately in front of the resort but I think that's a good thing! It feels very private with not a lot of other folks coming to linger in front. I travelled with my 14 year old daughter and we used all the pools including the really fun Adventure Pool. We also used the hotel's cruiser bikes twice for a trip to Kihei and another further south to Makena Landing Park. The Island Gourmet Market and Shops at Wailea are right next door (up the hill slightly) as is must-visit restaurant Monkeypod and their famous (and fabulous) Mai Tais. The staff at WBR was LOVELY - from the front desk, to the Bell Hops, to the clerks in the stores, the STBX staff, cleaning staff - everyone was GREAT. Stay here!! It has it ALL!!!!!!
