Came to town work with my business partner, and the house was great. In addition to me staying at the, we actually the living room and kitchen as a work space for our planning meetings. Location was central and easy for lunch and dinners. And I loved being so close to the beach. 10 out of 10. Will stay again.
Iâm in this area for business every couple of months and have stayed in a number of different nearby hotels. This was my favorite so far. Highly recommended!
Excellent location and good communication with property manager. Everything is very walkable so a car isn't necessary. The place is great. Highly recommend.
This cottage is nicely decorated and very clean. We decided beforehand not to rent a car and we made the right decision, as the location canât be beat! You are within walking distance to the beach, grocery store, restaurants and shops. We did go out of the La Jolla area one time for a whale watching cruise and we were easily able to book an Uber for that, and the airport after our stay. The small negatives (but it wouldnât stop us from re-booking) were that the sofa is very uncomfortable and the shower is tight. Also, if you have luggage, be sure to enter from Prospect St. and not Coast Blvd., as you will have several flights of steps to haul your luggage up (we found out the hard way). Overall, would recommend!
We spent 3 nights in the bungalow. Literally steps into the heart of La Jolla. Everything was clean and well appointed. Great communication throughout our stay
First, the good: Without a doubt the property is in a great location. And the property was quite clean upon arrival.
The bad:
1)The arrival experience, after a long travel day, was extremely frustrating...and was the clear fault of the property management company. The six digit code for the front door that I was given was very clear and easy to read on my iphone...and was even underlined. After trying numerous times to unlock the door with the underlined code I could not. After calling after-hours number for the unit I was told that after putting 6 digit code I then needed to push a button with a check mark on it to open the door (which did then work). However, the message from the management company containing the 6 digit underlined code showed a barely legible "check mark" after the code that I needed to use to open the door. They should have either: a) made the check mark part of the underlined buttons that needed to be pushed and also made it equally legible to the other code numbers, or b) simply stated that after entering the 6 digit code that the check-mark button needed to be pushed to complete the opening process.
2) The property is listed on VRBO as containing a fireplace. That was actually an important feature to us when we selected the property. After considerable aggravation in attempting to turn the fireplace on by following the instructions in the 3-ring binder for the property I was forced to call the Bluewater Vacation Homes to get assistance. They were unab
This was a perfect stay for two to explore La Jolla. House was super-clean and the check in process was very easy. Communication with the property company was clear and friendly. Highly recommend!!
The perfect spot for our spring break adventure. Cozy, but had everything we needed and the location canât be beat! Our kids (9 and 11) slept on the pullout couch with no complaints and the bed in the master was super comfy. Communication with the owners was prompt and clear. Would highly recommend!
My husband and I had a wonderful time staying in this cute little cottage. It was very clean and exactly as pictured. La Jolla is a very walkable town and the cottage is in the absolute best location! So many places to explore. My only negative comment is the couch was not very comfortable but that would not keep me from staying here again. Highly recommend!
Beautifully decorated and appointed, very quiet, solid house, perfectly situated, loved staying here.
BUT bedroom and shower are very cozy, almost impractically so, there's no municipal lighting of Ocean Lane at night, the 10am checkout time is kinda early, and given that we had to take out our own trash and run the dishwasher before leaving, the cleaning fee of one sixty-five for a very small house is a bit much. Also, the directions and parking explanation that is part of the property description are accurate, those published prior to arrival are not.
Really enjoyed my stay here. The place was perfect. Save for the renovations going on across the walkway, it's everything it appears to be in real life: a very tastefully updated, super clean historic cottage smack dab in the heart of the village. Super convenient to everything downtown La Jolla has to offer. The cove and the park a block and a half west down the steps, and north, south or east to restaurants, bars and shops. Perfect for a solo traveler or two. Loved the compact but full kitchen even though I only ever made coffee. The sleeper sofa (though never used for sleeping) isn't all that comfy as a sofa and slightly less clean than the rest of the place but if you're downtown in La Jolla you probably won't be sitting inside very long anyway. The coffee shop/restaurant up on Prospect dumps their garbage behind the restaurant and close to the unit (though it's concealed behind a door), so some stray spilled or blew down the walkway near the entrance of the apt. No nasty smells or visuals however. I was a male solo traveler who didn't mind but only other thing I'd add is having a motion detector porch light might be helpful for others. Unless you remember to leave it on before you go out for the evening. Can get a little dark in the walkway when entering the code. Oh and if you have luggage definitely enter from Prospect St and not Coast Blvd (where you'll have to navigate steps). All that said, the place still manages an easy five stars. Will definitely return. Bluewater was very attentive btw. Received a welcome kit and daily text messages checking in on my stay.
Everything was great! Location is great !! Clean . Quick walk to the beach and great restaurants . The only thing was on check out day, they were there early to clean and stood outside the door until we left so we felt pressured to hurry up and get out even though it wasnât quite check out time .
Loved my two week stay at this special cottage. Itâs quaint and perfectly located in the heart of the village. Easy walk to beach, coffee, shops and everything else you need. Check in was a breeze and management was fantastic. I will most definitely be back!
