We were wine tasting for 3 days around the north side of Mt Etna. Hotel in a great location. The town of Linguaglossa is a little slow and limited. But this was shoulder reason. Staff was excellent- eager to please and very responsive

Enjoy.
Excellent staff, full spa including massage and a Michelin star restaurant. Also close to gateway to Mt Etna.

All rooms on the 3rd floor have no windows, mattress and linens were 3 star at best. Owner of the hotel Leonardo extremely rude, and lacks basic customer service skills.

Dear David, thank you for the time you spent in writing a comment. It’s always important to know our guest’s feedback to improve our service.We would like to explain in detail the facts happened during your stay.According to your booking details you booked a cozy room, that is our entry level room, but despite this, before your arrival, we assigned you a room of higher level, the standard room on the second floor, by making a free upgrade.At your arrival, you didn't appreciate the upgrade, because you wanted a room on the first floor.Therefore, once you entered the room and you saw it, you addressed rudely to the receptionist in charge calling it the "crappy room" because there were no windows. We would like to emphasise that Shalai is located in a nineteenth century building and it has only two floors. Probably, you did not realize that the room is on the second floor and in the room there are the skylights (with VELUX installed) that ensure the right natural lighting and the correct air exchange.The receptionist suggested to change room again and move to the first floor in the Junior Suite for an extra charge usually reserved for our VIP club guests. So any Shalai rooms was good to you.Additionally, we want to point out that the owner Luciano was not rude at all, because you approached and threatened him during the dinner in a pizzeria outside the hotel, invading its personal privacy. While he was having is meal you asked him many times to recharge your electric car at the hotel, asking for a charging station. Despite everything he always replied to you in a polite manner that we were sorry but they have no way to help you with the charging station, since the nearest one is located in a nearby town. When you didn’t like its reply, you threated him saying that you would leave a bad review, and here we are!Last but not least, for what concern the sheets, you didn’t report anything to the reception, in the room we use percale sheets, top sheet in satin line, soft terry towels with excellent grammage, bathrobe and slippers are also provided.For the next time we suggest to choose a hotel near a charging station or with this service included because, there is no hotel that can install a charging station during the night of a guest stay.Best regards

We had a truly lovely time at Shalai. They came recommended by friends who stayed earlier in summer. The hospitality was amazing. Marta and her team were so helpful. We loved their dining recommendation and the resort itself was so well maintained and comfortable. Amazing breakfast and we used the Spa features and treatments as a special treat and we are so glad we did.Not something we normally indulge in but it was a special occasion and was well worth it- great value. We wish we could have stayed a little longer to explore the Etna wine country but are really happy we were able to visit for the time we did.

Schönes Hotel mit kleinen Einschränkungen
Riesiges Bett, Dunkles Bad mit nur einer schwachen Lichtquelle. Die aber ausreicht um den Schlaf des Partners zu stören, wenn der andere nachts ins Bad muss. Eine Glaswand grenzt an das Zimmer und lässt das Licht durch. Die Schiebetür zum Bad ist slles andere als angenehm, denn sie ist systembedingt nicht dicht.

Incredible find!
Friends of ours stayed at this hotel a couple of years ago for one night and recommended it. We decided to stay for three nights. It was the best decision of our trip. Our flight to Catania was delayed by 10 hours and we had a long, horrible day in the Rome airport. We arrived at the hotel very late and very tired after a stressful drive from Catania. The staff welcomed us with open arms, carried our luggage to our room, immediately asked if we would like a late dinner at their excellent restaurant, and offered to change the date and time of our planned excursion the next day. The hotel and staff remained top notch the rest of our time there - recommending other restaurants, providing excellent breakfasts, and answering other questions. Linguaglossa was a small, friendly town close to Mt. Etna. My family and I highly recommend The Shalai!
