I booked the Travelodge last minute for one night as there wasn’t a lot of other still options available and needed somewhere with 24/7 reception as I had a late flight. This could be a good option if you have a car as there is a car park at the back of the hotel with plenty of parking spots or if you have a short stopover and manage to get a cheap rate.
The staff that worked there were very friendly and welcoming and reception always had someone available.
The area isn’t particularly nice and while it’s close to the train station, it will take you 30-40 mins to get to central London.
The room was clean and the bed was comfy however, it had a mothball smell to it which wasn’t pleasant at all.
The buffet style breakfast was really average. It’s supposed to be served from 7am to 10am and while I sat down at 9am, there wasn’t a lot of food left and it wasn’t fresh because it had been sitting in the food warmer. The croissants were also old and there wasn’t any fruit on offer. I didn’t end up eating much of it because it was really fatty and didn’t taste great at all.
Overall, my stay was pretty average and I wouldn’t recommend this place if you’re holidaying as there are a number of better options available in London that are in nicer, more central areas.
With that said, Travelodge is reliable and known to be a stock standard hotel that’s clean with basic facilities, so it’s very much you pay for what you get.
