Upon arrival, we were very pleased with the accommodation. We had invited our son and his partner to be our guests at the villa as we hadn’t seen our son since his move to Portugal almost a year and a half ago. As the other reviews have described, the house is beautiful, modern and spacious. The view of the ocean and the sunsets from the deck are lovely. Unfortunately, we wound up having a similar experience as some previous guests on this site re. the pool not being heated as advertised. Prior to our arrival we requested through our travel agent that the pool be heated as we were only going to be there for 5 days, and as seniors, my husband and I find a heated pool easier on us. She was assured that the pool would be heated. Unfortunately when we arrived we found that the pool was ice cold. We informed the owner instantly and over the next 5 days, my son dealt with the owner on our behalf. He was told the situation would be rectified and unfortunately it remained cold. After the 2nd or 3rd day, my son did ask the owner whether he would be providing his parents with any money back as we had paid for but not gotten a pool that could be used. As a lovely gesture, or so we thought, the owner had a bottle of wine and a cake sent over. I was pleased and satisfied with that. What soured the experience for us and what was truly unexpected and shocking, was after our departure the owner sent my son an email accusing him of intentionally breaking into the box, supposedly from the moment we arrived, and turning the heater off on a daily basis so we could ask for a “discount”. He felt that there could be no other explanation as to why the heater wouldn’t stay on. I have no words. I am still in shock.
