I had one of the worst experiences booking a hotel through Expedia. The person handling the booking forced me to pay a 40% advance, calling me repeatedly and rushing me to pay, without even confirming the hotel facilities. He claimed there were limited rooms available, so I trusted him and paid.
I made my booking about 10 hours before arrival, but even after that, he kept making excuses and misleading me. When I reached the railway station, I called him twice, and he said there were “drainage issues” in the hotel and that he would arrange another room in a different hotel within 10–15 minutes — which was a complete lie.
When I reached the actual hotel, the staff told me that the person had been calling them, begging for any available room, but everything was already full due to heavy rush. The hotel staff themselves confirmed that they couldn’t accept any more bookings.
The worst part was that I was traveling with my friend, she was not feeling well. It was midnight, and we were carrying our bags, wandering from place to place in the streets, trying to find a room. It was a horrible and stressful experience. we were exhausted and even cried out of frustration.
I strongly advise everyone not to trust this booking process or this person. Totally unprofessional, dishonest, and insensitive to travelers’ situations.
