The hotel is ok: capitalizing on the Godzilla feature, however, the Godzilla terrace is closed
Finding the hotel was tricky: the reception is on the 8th floor and the elevators to get to it are behind the movie theater…
The rooms are very small , we were a family of 4 (2adults and 2 kids) and the 3 bed room was tight. We were assigned the 23rd floor and we could still hear the concerts around the hotel and trains go by: luckily everything stops later in the day, between 11 and 12, so our sleep was not affected… if you are a light sleeper, you probably want the higher floors.
Although the location was convenient and next to attractions and train station, It is located in the red district and some sidewalks around it are sketchy.

This is like the only decent hotel in that area while all others nearby are “love hotels”. Our room has a double bed plus loft which I thought we could have total 3 people (everything in the room was a set of 3 such as towels, tooth brushes, shampoo….and so on) but the staff insisted that only allowed maximum 2 people… which I don’t understand the reasoning

The hotel exceeded our expectations. We booked the hotel going by the reviews & pictures. Everything was great. The rooms in Tokyo are generally small but our room was the perfect size for two twins beds. The staff is so attentive. It is even embarrassing not to be able to tip them (for us with the American mindset). The breakfast buffet is very good.

Location is great
"Lovely olde world hotel with a nice basement bath house. Good breakfast and a great location close to shops, restaurants and the beautiful castle. Pick up from the station at 3pm was a bonus!"

"Very close to Matsumoto station, Toyota Car Rental and restaurants (recommend Beans for Italian). Breakfast was very good but can be crowded as tour companies use the hotel. Walk to excellent Matsumoto City Art Museum."
