THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
The centre of Mers-les-Bains, with its market square, shops, bars and restaurants and the Belle Époque villas of the protected district, is within walking distance. On Mondays and Thursdays, the open-air market offers plenty of local produce. Don't miss the local specialities: gâteau battu (a light brioche-style cake) and ficelle picarde (a savoury filled crêpe).
