Perfect location right by the crosswalk and light by the entrance to the state park. Easy walking distance to downtown and harbor. A couple of the cement steps need some attention, but overall condition of unit was great. Maybe add an AC unit of some kind in the second bedroom? Really enjoyed our stay.

Nice place by Grand Haven Beach

We enjoyed the spacious and charming house, with wonderful beds and a fully stocked kitchen. The deck faced the beach with comfy lounge chairs and a gorgeous view of the sunset which we really enjoyed. The location was excellent as it was walking distance to the beach and downtown. Something that could be improved is the walkway from the driveway to the door. Some of the brick steps are misplaced and not very sturdy, especially when having to dodge the tree branches that overhang into the brick pathway. There’s no curtains covering the main sliding doors which face the street, nor is there blinds or a curtain on the bathroom window.

This was our second stay, chosen mainly for the great location near the beach and favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, safety issues with the front steps we noted last year have worsened. The house had a stronger musty smell this time (AC units were not on upon arrival, but did not improve smell). We hoped to reheat meals, however the microwave emitted a burnt chemical odor that affected food. The oven felt warm even when off, which was concerning. Cookware remains limited and not very clean, and guests must hand wash dishes before leaving. Linens were clean. There were stains on decor pillows and in some areas of the carpet. While the location is excellent and the basics are covered, overall upkeep is lacking. Unless nothing else is available, we’re unlikely to return.

Perfect Family Vacation

This is the most adorable beach house, super clean and beautifully decorated! Location is right across the street from the beach and minutes (driving) away from Grand Haven shopping and restaurants. We had a tiny issue with the lock on the door (how to) but the owners texted us back right away and even checked on us the next day to make sure we were good to go! Such a wonderful time, this is an awesome property for a family vacation!

Great view…but

The view was magic. The staff at The rental place were amazing. The were very responsive to every email and call. The place gets super hot as the day goes on and it doesn’t cool down well. Not a big deal if you are not planning on spending time there during the day. We had a plumbing issue and a plumber had to come. If you are allergic to dust and if you can’t climb a hill to get to the place from the road as there are no stairs and the incline is very steep, stay in a different property. The shower-head was clogged and not really great for getting totally clean. If you plan on staying in and ordering food to be delivered, it would likely be OK. If you want to cook your own food, wash all the dishes first. While they require each guest clean the kitchen, as they should, they don’t actually enforce that 500 dollar fine for not doing a good job nor do they check. The dishes in the cupboards were either dusty or had not been scrubbed clean of residue.

Pictures are deceiving

This place needs a huge investment. It looks decent in the photos but when you get there, the place is a big disappointment. The driveway is extremely steep and hard to maneuver. The outdoor area is overgrown with weeds and the steps and walkway are dangerous. Upon entering, it smells like air fresheners which are placed throughout the unit. The window tracks and blinds were filthy, no central AC just an old window AC (with a “change filter” light lit up) and two plug-in AC units. A box fan was so filthy it looked brown. The shower had tiles coming off the walls. One bedroom has ceiling tiles that look like they were about to fall. The location was close to town but it was hard to back out the steep drive into a curving road where you can’t see oncoming traffic. The management company was responsive and had someone come in to clean the windows and blinds and provide a hepa air filter. VRBO should have inspections and higher standards before placing a property on their site. Definitely would not stay here again.

Great location.

Location to Grand Haven State Beach is perfect. The outside steps, deck and other areas could use some attention. The steps are crooked/broken/tilted. Wouldn’t be ideal if someone had walking issues. Our kids even tripped and fell down a couple times. Garage space could definitely be cleaner. Shower needs updated.

Beautiful location, needs updates

Beautiful location! We walked to the beach each day with our boys. I’m giving it 3 stars because the window unit a/c did not keep the house cool. Management was prompt to assist find a solution. The deck would’ve been great to enjoy, but the railing was not up to code. Our one year old could easily fit through the railings so it was not safe for us to enjoy. Outdated, but clean. If it’s just my husband and I, it would’ve been better for us personally!

Great location!

This was the perfect spot for our family of 4. Right across from the beach with amazing views of the sunset each night. Small house but has everything you need! Nicely decorated and plenty of storage. Property manager was very prompt and helpful when we had an issue with the door lock! Would definitely recommend and stay again!

We had a nice mini vacation. Beautiful view of the State Park and wonderful Lake Michigan.

The view is hard to beat. The property was decorated beautifully. Nice size bedrooms. Nice deck and fire pit down the hill a bit. Some of the obstacles we had were.... the toilet was not working correctly. Thought it was fixed by maintenance but on the last morning it started to act up again. The driveway was very steep. The outside steps were hard to manage when taking in luggage and supplies.

Lovely view

The cottage was comfortable and had a great view. Bed was too soft. Toilet did not flush properly and was a nuisance. If they had left a garage door opener it would have been very helpful since only flat place to park is in garage. The driveway is all up hill then you have to walk up steps to unlock door on side of house then walk down basement stairs to go in garage to open garage door. Then back up steps. Lot of steps - not for us.

Perfect location

The location of this property was excellent. Right across from the beach with walking distance to downtown! The place itself was clean but we had numerous fruit flies. There was an odor downstairs when we realized there were several garbage bags ( with one ripped open) in the garage. This was the cause of the smell and bugs. The large screen door was also completely ripped making it impossible to enjoy the breeze off the lake as we had to keep the glass door closed.

The Location is perfect

The odor was horrible mildew from downstairs coming up the vents . Blinds need to be replaced bathroom toilet needs to be replaced . We loved the house the view was awesome and a beautiful beach .

Location, location, location!!!

This little house was absolutely perfect for my son and I on our visit to Grand Haven. It is situated within 5 minutes walking distance to the water! Everything you want to do is within walking distance to downtown. The 2 bedrooms were very spacious and the home is beautifully appointed with comfortable furniture, beds and brand new bedding. When we had an issue with a broken toilet seat upon arrival, Andy the maintenance manager came right out and replaced the seat with a brand new one! He was extremely courteous and expedient, making our stay that much more comfortable. We will definitely be returning for another visit tuo The Beach House.
