Les locaux sont flambants neufs, la vue de la chambre était parfaite, nous avons même pu voir des aurores boréales. La chambre était super propre et nous n'avons manqué de rien. Très bon accueil. Seul petit point : si vous prenez une chambre avec salle de bain privative, les batiments se trouvent a 6km de la réception.

Petit bâtiment au calme. Petit déjeuner ok. Mais soirée très bruyante car les autres résidents ont parlé fort et longtemps dans la cuisine attenante à notre chambre.

Dépaysant. Seul au monde.
Superbe! Attention guesthouse au milieu de nul part. Il faut prévoir de la nourriture car il y a un petit-déjeuner possible mais pas de restaurant et la ville est à 1h. La réception est à 5km. Chambre très propre.

Juste Naze. A part ce localisation cet établissement n'a rien pour lui. La construction est moche. Les chambres glauques. Les chambres situées au rez de chaussé ont une fenêtre aute qui donne l'impression de dormir dans une cave. On sens que l'idée est de faire du fric avec le tourisme qui est en plein essor dans le pays, mais pas grand chose de plus. C'est froid, aucune déco, aucun tableau, au sol juste du carrelage, bref très décevant pour un tarif excessif. Il y a pourtant en Islande des hébergements qui coûtent 4 fois moins cher et sont de très bonne qualité. Je déconseille.

Really the only bad thing getting there. Several klm of bad gravel road takes you to check in. That’s not where the lodging is. After check in you drive another 8 klm on right gravel to the rooms. We have a small car. The sleeping room was great facing north fir the Northern Lights. Room next to us had outside lights on all night. Community kitchen is great.

The check-in process was confusing. Check-in was supposed to begin at 3 but the person reception seemed surprised that we wanted to check in that early. After that all was good.

Grimstunga is a hotel that is about 10km from the reception area, which was startling at first because there is literally nothing around. After a day of driving and walking through Iceland, we were certain we’d find nothing as we drove down a very empty dirt road. But there it was! The rooms are small and there are some issues with the hot/cold water (at least in room 2), but it was clean and comfortable. Breakfast is prepared by the family that lives near the reception area and owns the hotel for a surcharge. It was plentiful and had a little of everything. The people who own the hotel, however, are absolute gems. Our rental car company gave us a car that was low on oil, making the light turn on. With the closest gas station a half hour away, we started getting nervous as it was a big driving day. The owner checked the oil and filled it for us from his personal stores. He even offered to speak to the rental car company on our behalf to have the price of the oil refunded. If you’re looking for very quiet, remote, clean rooms, Grimstunga is the place to go. If you want to meet some incredibly kind and helpful people, Grimstunga is also the place.

Romote area with long drive. Totally not worth it
The room booked is 10km bumpy road away from their reception on map and from main road to their reception is also miles of dirty bumpy road. The location on Hotels.com is very misleading or deceptive. There is no dinning facility or any stores within 10 kms. The room we stayed with private bath is small and has noise (like fan or air flow) all the time from the roof. Both front and back door can not be locked from either inside or outside.Not very good experience after a long day.

Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. We had dinner on the first night and the food was excellent. My wife does not eat meat and they made a fish dish and had plenty of veggie options.

This guesthouse is one of the only ones in the area, so is kind of a default choice. Friendly staff and generous meals (for an extra fee). Rooms and common areas clean and modern. Only minor complaint really is that the rooms themselves are pretty small, and there's only one shared bathroom in the main building which is a little low for the number of rooms (particularly as each room can sleep two people).

The rooms are not located where the main facility is. In fact, when we arrived at the reception they told us that the rooms were 6km far away from the reception (on a terrible dirt road!!). They should have told us before also because there were people coming from that way and they had to make 6km two times.

To the point ... we traveled the ring road around Iceland, wonderful! 7 different "hotels", all good. Stay has all the basic needs. It is kind of in the middle of "out there" ... but that's a plus because it's on the east road, 864 to Dettifoss. It's about half way there. It may be the closest "hotel" to Dettifoss. For us, that meant we are just about the last ones there in the day, 11 plus or minus. The road is ... ruff, be prepared. That said, I recommend seeing both sides of Dettifoss! Note: the 862 road on the West side is much better, but seeing both sides is worth the journey!

Plenty of easy parking in front of the hotel. Not as close to the lake as we thought and shame it was extra to use the sauna and hot tubs. Room was clean, bathroom was modern and slept great with black out curtains.

Book for triple room but being ask if want to change to bigger double room since we only hv 2 pax, at the end the double room not so big , feel disappointed but going back to reception is 7km away which is very far, hence lazy to appeal .. sigh

Guesthouse was very noisy based on the building and room construction (no soundproofing or noise reduction in the design). You could hear all conversations in the adjoining rooms and kitchen (pots clanking, chairs sliding across the floor, etc.). Very uncomfortable setting. Positives: good communication/email responsiveness, comfortable bed/pillows, and kitchen/fridge/freezer. Road maintenance was poor ((many potholes and ruts, but not sure who is responsible for that.

Great view out back window. Quiet, not so easy to find in the dark. Floorboards are separating. Still cant figure out why bathroom sinks are so small, can’t get two hand in at same time. Seems to be an Iceland thing, see it in many other places! I knock the t. Paper off the roller every time i sit down. Didn’t use the shared kitchen, seem ok. Beds are comfy

Really Lovely Modern Zen Cottage!
We stayed in the private cottage and booked a triple cottage even though we were two people / a couple, as the two person options were quite small. Highly recommend the slightly greater expense for a triple.. Cottages are quite simple, and really lovely - we were honestly amazed at how modern they were .. out there in the middle of nowhere… And thanks to being there we decided go take the dirt roads up to the falls.. and we’re so so happy we did.. better views, less people & better direct waterfall access than the other side of the ravine with paved road..

Uns hat das Guesthouse gut gefallen. Da gerade renoviert wurde, hatten wir kein Zimmer mit eigenem Bad. Hierfür hat sich der Gastgeber entschuldigt und uns ein neu renoviertes und sehr schönes Zimmer in einem Haus mit Gemeinschaftsbad gegeben. Da aber ausser uns nur noch ein anderes Paar dort war, hatten wir eines der zwei Bäder für uns. Die Gemeinschaftsküche ist groß und es ist alles da, was man braucht. Man muss auf jeden Fall Essen mitbringen, es gibt nichts vor Ort und auch keine Geschäfte in der Nähe. Dafür ist man umgeben von viel Natur und Ruhe. Wir können es empfehlen.

Camere molto belle e spaziose, arredamento moderno, letti molto comodi e tutto pulito alla perfezione. Unico neo la zona della cucina che dovrebbe essere curata meglio: piatti sporchi, tutto disordinato, servizio non all’altezza. Posizione dell’hotel veramente nel nulla più totale… Prezzo sinceramente troppo elevato per quello che offre.

Great place on the way to dettifoss east
Large room, great view, good value for money. If you would like to eat there is a central place with all the equipment.
