The cabin was very quiet, just what we came for during our sisters' weekend getaway as a meeting place between North Carolina and Ohio. It was very clean (that's important and easily critiqued for me). The photos don't do the nice cabin justice. It's new, and still has a new smell as of October 2025. And unusual for new construction, the pretty wood floors are creeky; rustic feeling but very noticable in the quiet space. Not shown/explained is one bathroom is downstairs with two bedrooms, and one bathroom is upstairs with the two single beds. The kitchen appliances were new, clean, and nice quality. And it was stocked with the helpful basics so easy to use. Small enough to be efficient but not too small to be uncomfortable. For going out, one small restaurant (on Door Dash) was a few mintues drive towards New Castle, with surprisingly good food. Instacart also delivers. The black blinds were nice to make it dark for sleeping. And the sound of the sound of the babbling brook/creek in the back was tranquil. Especially nice to enjoy it from the screened in porch (something else the pictures don't do justice for.)Could use a bit more technology, like something Bluetooth for music playing (there's a 3-disc CD player) or even EV charging would make it more applealing since it's in the mountain with the nearest charging being 20-30 minutes in Roanoke. Sweet memories were made of slowing down and enjoying the company through this appropriately named Retreat by the Creek.
