Convenient and comfortable
Smartly renovated hotel with comfortable rooms. The staff were friendly and helpful and the breakfast (lacking cereals) was varied and copious. Excellent value for money. One criticism: some of the rooms (including mine) cannot be reached without having to go up and down stairs. This is a drawback for elderly clients with luggage. But the hotel is right in front of the railway station.

Not as advertised. Some rooms are renovated, some are not. We got a very old room that was not at all as on the pictures. Extremely noisy due to bars in front and across the corner + train station + buses passing in front. Noise started early evening and continued throughout the night with people yelling until dawn. Then, garbage trucks + construction started. Barely had 2 hours of good sleep. Parking not included. Breakfast really expensive (we had breakfast for 2 adults, 2 kids for around 20 pounds in London at a Premier Hotel, not here). Staff is very friendly. City sucks... full of homeless + scary menacing people that seems to come out of a street movie. Only part in the UK that we did not feel so safe. Parks are in bad conditions (especially compared to London or even smallest cities in the UK). Bottom line, no use to visit NewCastle (and NewCastle beer is no longer made here anyway). Instead, drive straight to Edinburgh and spend 2 nights there. At least, book a different hotel.

Emplacement parfait, pile en face de la gare. Seul bémol: la rue piétonne est très bruyante la nuit, demander une chambre donnant sur l'arrière de l'immeuble.

The location and parking option were the main reasons for booking. We checked in late, so the hotel park lot was full. The hotel should highlight that when their parking is booked, you can park at the train station which is right next door, super easy. The room we booked (Junior Studio Suite) was in a very odd location which did not include lift access. This was not highlighted anywhere I read so if you book this room, know the room is pretty far from the reception or the restaurant. To get to our room, we had to go through more than 6 flights of stairs throughout the walk from check-in. It was a maze.. We ended up using the fire exit each day and during check-out since it was easier and around the corner. When we shared this with the receptionist, he laughed and said ya, it is closer and easier. The city is very much for party folks and during a weekend or game, it can get very busy and we saw a couple of physical fights near the hotel. The free breakfast with the room was nice and the wait staff was lovely.

The hotel is great, rooms are nice and clean. Very comfortable and had a great nights sleep. Unfortunately we had to wait 25 mins to check in as the queue stretched the length of the foyer. This was caused largely because one group had made an error and booked a single room instead of a double and we’re arguing about it, tying up one of only 2 check in staff on one of the busiest days where the hotel was fully booked. We also had no hot water in the morning for showering. We waited 30 mins hoping but ended up having to have cold washes.

Hotel is an excellent location. Room was good although big black mark on the wall from the chair rubbing on it. When we went for breakfast the staff could not keep up with the cleaning of the tables and populating the tables with cutlery. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Great location for the centre of town and convenience to Central Station and coach station. The breakfast was excellent, lots of choice and specials cooked to order, gluten free bread/toast was available. The bar was very noisy with loud music and there was no escaping it for a cosy chat, furniture a bit dated. The bedroom had a nice bathroom but shower didn't have a long pipe it was stuck high on the wall, no non-slip on the bath. The one wardrobe was full of ironing board, safe, fan so no room for clothes. The two beds were 4' so there was no room really, I ended up putting my clothes on half the bed. The TV is in a big frame on the wall with sharp corners to be avoided in the small space at the end of the bed.

On whole it was great however when you book a double standard room you expect a double bed as stated on Expedia. This is not the case the room was tiny and the bed was in fact a 3/4 bed not a standard double and was the most uncomfortable bed I’ve ever slept in. Hotel is good location for shops, bars & transport.

Really lovely hotel. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was delicious, nice to be able to order off the menu. Incredibly central and perfect for the train. However this comes at a price, it’s very noisy. It’s an old building and the windows do not keep the noise out. Take some ear plugs and it’s all good!

Hotel looks fab and is a fantastic location for getting about. The breakfast was not good, cold eggs, poor coffee and overcooked sausage, beds were very soft which was not good. Reception staff were fab, bar staff totally disinterested. Twice we went to Hudson's and both times we walked out without getting a drink.

A very impressive building, the entrance was very oppulent and grand, but not in an off-putting way. the check in was easy and the staff were very pleasant, helpful and hospitable - we were dealt with by Katrianna ( I think that is how you spell her name) but her clolleague was really good as well. The lift is the quietist smoothest lifr I have evey been in. The Room was excellent, a very high standard the beds were comfartable, the bedding/ pillows were ao a high quality, the decore was fresh and interesting, we had an internal facing room so there was no view, but if you holiday is only to look out the window its not much of a holiday! The food and bar looked good but we chose to eat somewhere else as we had to get to a gig in the north of Newcastle so, we got something to eat nearer, but it looked nice.Security at the hotel was good, we got back about 12:30am and there was security asking for room number and name to ensure people were not just coming in of the street ( a good idea, when your in the city centre). I would stay here again at the drop of a hat.

Great location & studios, check out my comments
Studio was clean and nicely decorated. The air conditioning was quite noisy so earplugs are needed. As its open plan and the radiators are behind the curtains, it does get a little cold so PJs are also recommended. Great location and nice and secure.

Room was directly above the function suite which hosted a rather rowdy wedding until c.1am. I’ve stayed in party hostels that were quieter and suffice to say I didn’t get any sleep. Attitude of reception staff was also poor and I felt at times rude. I would advise you do not leave bags to be stored as not convinced about security, you’re provided with a hand written scrap of paper and when you return are told to wander around behind reception in amongst all the bags to find yours when reception staff can’t be bothered. Overall, felt my experience was very poor and would not return.

The hotel is fine in itself, but our room was really cold with the radiators turned up. One windo was open but behind a plastic cover that we were unable to get past to close the window. But then the shower was scalding hot even on the coolest setting.

Disappointed won’t stay again
We went to celebrate our anniversary having been married in this hotel 9 years ago, the gentleman from reception was lovely and even brought us a card up to the room, this however is where the positives end,,,,, the room was hot and stuffy meaning we had to open the windows. This led to very little sleep as the streets outside were so noisy all throughout the night. The breakfast was mediocre at very best and the chef was using his hands to plate up!! Not once were we asked how our stay was or how our breakfast was all I can conclude is that they’re not too bothered!
