Very easy check-in and good communication with realty. Excellent location which was what drew us to rent. Negatives: no faucet at the fish cleaning station, so unusable. Kitchen cookware was cheap and had Teflon lining which flaked off. If you like to cook and eat in, not the best choice. Grill was pretty nasty. Beds were too soft for us but we do like a firm mattress. No broom or vacuum supplied so you would need to call and ask for that. We decided that next time we will spend more and upgrade to a house with better kitchen amenities. The beach location was perfect if these shortcomings aren’t deal breakers for you.

Just what we needed

We enjoyed our stay at Shellington. It was our dogs first visit at the beach and they had a great time! The location was perfect, just steps from the beach.The house can use a few update, but was comfortable for October weather.

Breathtaking

The view was fantastic. Bed/sofa/recliner very comfortable. Appliances available. Lots of towels and washcloths!! We were very comfortable, relaxed and enjoyed our stay tremendously. And a great complimentary bottle of wine!!

NEED SOME TLC

Outside pictures need up dated , many broken junk chairs and beach toys under steps? driveway unusable with a car, have to watch with a 4wheel drive, only one side usable. so much sand under house can hardly stand up under it let alone park.The grill looks like it was new in 1970, didnt dare to use. Main room upstairs was GREAT!!, BUT.Needs silverware any glasses only 2 wine glasses? Main ac unit not working, window units. No smoke detector in 1 bedroom?Loved the wraparound porch and beach location, IF THEY DO THE UPGRADES THE PLACE WOULD BE A GEM

Place was not very clean. Mold on shower curtain. Beadspreads had stains and dog hair on them. Beds were not made up. Had to put sheets on ourselves after a long day of traveling and late night arrival. No blankets. Fishing station looked like a tetnus shot. Lots of junk stored under the entrance stairs. Junk stored in closets. Poor lighting made for a uncozy feel at night.

Maintenance needed

Great location, comfy living room furniture, plenty of outdoor seating as well as an easy check in process - but that's where the pros end. Property needs a lot of maintenance. Fridge is old and rusted. Nails sticking up on the porch. Sliding glass door can barely open due to dirt and rust. Windows were very dirty. Bedding and pillows were old and stained. Only one lightbulb was working in each bedroom. Fan in bathroom did not work. Couldn't find working remote for TV in bedroom. Junk in bottom of both bedroom closets. Old, broken and rusted beach chairs under stairs. Would not recommend this place to fiends or family and would not stay again.

Thanksgiving '23

9th year tradition of Thanksgiving on the beach, we love staying in Oak Island and NC beaches in general! Host/property management was very responsive and I appreciated the daily texts with info and tips on things to do in the area. Lighting could easily be improved with a couple lamps in the living area. Currently, there is only overhead lighting with only one of the bedrooms having a tableside lamp. Heating fan in bathroom is missing a knob and therefore inoperable. Overall, enjoyable stay and is best suited for a long weekend vs. extended week.

Lovely small old school place

Sweet place for a couple or small family. Great spot on the beach, has nostalgic feel for someone like me who remembers Long Beach as a kid. Needs a little better lighting inside (maybe not an issue in summer but was in mid fall), and also needs an outdoor spigot to wash off sandy feet. But highly recommended for a romantic escape.

Great house!

We enjoyed our stay! It was exactly as pictured and the perfect amount of room for my fiancee and I!! Also a big plus that we could bring our sweet puppy! It was right on the beach with a path leading to the beach- SO close!!! There was also a very nice porch and chairs looking out on the ocean. It was clean and they provided us with everything we needed including toilet paper, power towels, a trash bag etc. We never received a check in email with the door code but the help line responded right away- even after hours and she was so nice and helpful! My only complaint was one of the big reasons we chose this house was for the grill and we weren't even able to use it. It was on the other side of the deck railing, strapped on and we could not turn the propane on- it was stuck. We could not even remove the can to replace it with the one we brought because of the way they had it strapped on. We were disappointed with this but still a great house!

What View!

We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It was the perfect size for us as a couple and allowed our dog to enjoy his first beach trip! Fabulous view right on the beach. Very peaceful. And communication from the property mgt was the best ever!
