The cleanliness of the unit was unacceptable and the host/rental property company was unresponsive. The most recent email from the host included a phone number and email to contact for urgent matters. We called the number three times and left a voicemail and sent an email one hour after check-in to complain about the cleanliness of the unit. Dried food stuck on dishes, a left over razor in one of the showers, grime under the bath mats, dried food stuck to baseboards, sand all over the floor. There was also a screw sticking out of the bunk bed ladder as a makeshift repair and there was mold on the ceilings. When the host/rental company was unresponsive, we ordered supplies and cleaned the unit ourselves. We have children and didn’t feel comfortable knowing the unit had hardly been cleaned since the previous renters. The host responded/rental company responded around midnight and offered to send the cleaning company back out the next day to “address areas of concern”. By this time we had already cleaned the unit ourselves and didn’t want to be bothered the second day into our stay with all our things packed already. It would’ve been an appropriate suggestion had it been offered upon check-in when we tried contacting the host/rental company. We asked to be reimbursed the 200 cleaning fee but the host was not willing to work that out with us. The busyness of the elevators was another major pain point, but the amenities were nice - the pools, the restaurants, beach access.
