Private area, comfortable. Had issues with the dryer (did not dry well, just steamed clothes). Sent someone out and they repaired it but it still didnât work great. Apparently an efficiency dryer that operates differently. Also, the repair guy let himself in the home when I was there so that was strange. He didnât even knock? He was with the management team I guess?
Owners are sweet, chatted with them a couple times. Nice, dog friendly property.
Pros:
Great location, comfortable bed, pretty garden setting.
Cons:
1) Many rugs in the unit had pet urine on them. I reached out to the manager on Sunday and the housekeeper did not arrive until Tuesday. Housekeeper told me that the owner wanted to spray a cleaner on the stained and soiled wool rugs but not remove them. I insisted the rugs be removed. The smell urine lingered after they were removed.
2) The drier is not vented to the outside and literally takes hours to dry a load of laundry. Housekeeper explained it was a special heat pump drier that did not require venting and had long cycle times by design. The moisture from the drier completely invaded the basement apartment making it continually damp. There was no mention of this unusual design in the online listing, in the instruction book in the house, or posted at the drier.
3) My husband leaned on the work/dining table and the lid completely flipped off its base! We requested the table be repaired or replaced and were told the owner was not available to fix it, so they would only remove it from the unit with no repair or replacement.
4) The owners live above this basement apartment. Their dogs barked and howled all night one night of our stay, making it impossible to sleep.
5) A coverless duvet had many obvious blood stains on it. The housekeeper replaced it with another clean, but coverless, duvet.
6) The area under the bed was filthy. This might have contributed to the lingering smell of urine in that room.
Fun little spot. Would call it more Hillsdale/SW PDX than Village - still a good spot as itâs by a great restaurant called Seasons & Regions and can hit the dive bar Cider Mills on way home. The bedroom is below the owners and they have dogs you can hear in the morning and I couldnât get the cable to work which is annoying.
This property was a great place for my husband, dog, and self to stay. I dinged it just a tinge because I felt the description "Multnomah Village" a bit misleading. It is adjacent. The property is in a quiet, safe area. Furniture was very comfortable. It was clean and well cared for. I really did enjoy the stay liked getting some hilly exercise walking to Multnomah Village. I would definitely stay there again.
Lovely property in quiet neighborhood. Everything needed for a comfortable stay. About a mile from the village, definitely walkable, will give you a good workout, which makes up for the delicious meals you'll have when you get there. About 15 minute drive into Portland. The one suggestion I would have to the owners is to either add a dimmer switch for living room lights (too bright at night) or add a couple of floor lamps for softer illumination at night. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay at this property. Highly recommend.
Poor quality and terrible cleaning. Began with a large chip off the spout of the coffee carafe - unsafe to say the least. The 2nd night we noticed we were sleeping on a filthy, poop stained sheet. Then I found a used panty liner in with new the toilet paper. The dryer, which was a condenser type of dryer, rendered the place damp and musty. The drawers to the freezer were unstable and tilted downward and one had to position them carefully so that they wouldn't fall out. Refilling the ice cube trays led to spilled water on the floor no matter how careful I was. When I contacted the manager, her response was less than understanding. The coffee carafe wasn't replaced, the sheets were replaced but even with pictures of the poop stains clearly evident, I was told "that's not poop, it's blood" - like that makes it any better. No mention of how disgusting finding a panty liner was or lack of replacing the coffee carafe. If we had anywhere else to go, we would have left and demanded a full refund.
Dirty clothing and floor upon arrival. We brought this to the attention of manager so the cleaners will be notified. However, our stay was pleasant and we enjoyed walking our dog in a beautiful neighborhood close to the city.
Our daughter Opal really enjoyed staying at your property, it was conveniently located near the church and reception venue, she and bridesmaids had a lovely time
This is an adorable little spot & I had a wonderful time here. It's attached to the owner's home but they have a ton of space and it still feels private. They're also VERY lovely people. If you've got a dog this is a great property to stay at because there is a ton of space to wander around for little walks and to take them to go to the bathroom. I find that to be one of the more challenging things when staying in short term rentals in cities (where to potty the pup) & this was super easy.
A couple of notes just to know before you book:
- They will send you a form you need to complete before check-in so make sure to keep an eye on your inbox or you won't receive your check-in info. I missed it in my inbox & arrived to the property without the ability to check in. Luckily the manager was pretty quick to respond & we were only waiting for 10 minutes or so. But make sure to keep an eye out for that.
- The property doesn't have central air but it does have a bedroom unit. We had a couple of hot days (visited in July) but could still keep the entire place pretty cool with a combo of opening the windows in the morning before it heated up + closing them & the blinds once it was warm out.
Overall I loved the property & had a great time here during my stay. Would absolutely recommend it to someone traveling to Portland, especially with their pet.
The apartment is located on the owner's property. It's quaint, safe, well equipped and I really appreciated not having to worry about my car getting broken into. I was in town for business with my dogs and the place worked out really well me. Close to Gabriel Park, etc.
