Reviewing the house, it definitely needs some love.

The property was pretty rundown. Could only use one bathroom shower because of the way it’s set up.A lot of doors were cracked and broken and stuckAnd there’s a lock box and door issue. Most all window blinds were broken.Asked for a few things that could be done and owner said yes they would take care of that and nothing was done!!Won’t rent again.It’s a shame, it could be a fabulous pace if they put some money in it

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly!

We stayed here for a lacrosse tournament and chose the house for its proximity to the venue and private pool. Despite some concerning reviews, the location was ideal. Overall, we had a nice stay—but not without issues.**The good:**The backyard is lovely: well-kept lawn, refreshing pool, large screened porch, and decent outdoor furniture. Some updates have been made—new linens, clean main floor carpet, and fresh-looking floors. Bathrooms and kitchen were clean, and the kitchen was adequately stocked. Location is excellent, right next to a bike trail with easy access to downtown and the beach. Garage was great for bike storage. AC and water pressure were strong.**The bad:**The property manager never responded to texts—until another manager informed us that septic pumping (next to the pool) would occur one afternoon. Living room furniture was badly stained and uncomfortable. The house lacked extra toilet paper and trash bags. Kitchen cabinets had leftover food from past guests. The master shower floods due to a low tray. Basement is dark and cluttered, with old carpet and random toys—needs a refresh. Main bathroom is outdated and doesn’t feel clean.**The ugly:**Comforters and throws had white, crusted stains. We spent the first day washing every blanket. Guest room sheets had sand, raising concerns about cleanliness. The house has great potential in a fantastic location but needs better cleaning, updates, and management

No frills beach house

We enjoyed our stay at the house, it's a bit older with a few broken items, but very spacious with lots of amenities. We did not use the basement bedroom because it felt a bit dank, and there is no bathroom in the basement. It's probably fine for other folks. Our toddler LOVED the pool and running around the spacious house, though it was not very child proof so we were careful to watch her closely and had to block off the basement stairs with a gate. Good deal, and great location, would stay here again!

Vacation

Get a new cleaning crew. Did not vacuum. Cobwebs in the dining room, kitchen and the screened in porch was the worst with dead bugs, clothing on the floor, peanuts on the floor, overall dirty. The garage needed a long overdue sweeping. There was a glob of hair in the tub drain. The sink in the master bedroom is so small you can barely wash your hands without water splashing on the floor. We spent most our day site seeing (love Lewes), and, in the pool, which was the cleanest part on the property.

Pool!!!! Close to the beach and a State Park!

Great location! Two car garage kept cars from the hot sun. Enjoyed pool and well kept lawn. Watched Euro cup games on TV, Dish has tons of channels. Lots of space, big bedrooms and living room. The only downside was tiny shower in master bedroom with tiny sink. Had to use bigger bathroom for everything. There was not enough hooks to hang towels. Could use few chairs in bedrooms to sit or lay down clothes. Overall we enjoyed staying in this house.

Nice outdoors with pool. House good size but dated. Property manager helpful with needs. No extra linens or paper products. Met our needs for 2 days. Potential to be great spot..enjoyed the pool and yard.

Nice little find in Lewes Area

Best feature of this house is the private inground pool. Great feature being so close to Lewes Bay and being able to return to our own swim. Clean, nice size and with a decent backyard and screened in patio. Location is awesome. Easy 2 mile run to the bay, couple blocks from the bike path, easy access to numerous restaurants and shops.

2nd time staying

We rented this property last July and again this July. The owner needs really needs to invest some money into this property. Last year no issues with plumbing. This year, it sounded like the drains in the sink were going to explode and that was without running the washer or dishwasher. When it was gurgling, hair was coming up through the drains. The musty smell is still prevalent. Others that have rented have stained the furniture. The trash situation is not good. The people who stayed the week before never rolled the cans to the curb for pickup. Needless to say, we had to wait until the end of our trip to put bags in the cans. The main shower tub needs be caulked or just ripped out and replaced. The outdoor shower has a wasp nest in it. When we arrived at 20 minutes past check-in the cleaning crew was still inside. Not 100% confident they cleaned sheets and comforters. I had to text the property manager as they failed to clean the prior renters mess from the outdoor porch in the back. Cleaners came with an attitude. The pool was fabulous and the pool cleaning crew actually showed up when supposed to this time. Owner - you should refinish the bottom of the pool. All of the bottoms of our feet are scraped up. The outdoor concrete around the pool is cracked and hard to walk on. Did we enjoy our stay? Yes, because we always make the most of our trips. We were disappointed to see that the owners have not made the necessary improvements. You can certainly tell they just want the money and do as little as possible to make the home rentable. This house is close to downtown Lewes and Cape Henlopen. Having a private pool is high on our list so we will rent again - just hoping to see improvements next year since people are paying over $2,500 for a week!

The house was exactly the way it looked in the pictures. The hostess Kathy was a sweetheart and very helpful when we reached out to her for anything. Definitely a great choice and we would come back again.

encellent vacation home

We will rent this property again. Check- in easy. Property manager very helpful. We found three things upon arrival a broken window in living room but the manager was aware of it already and she emptied a bucket full of water near washing machine and she was made aware of a leak in the closet of basement bedroom. The pool was excellent! One suggestion to the owners you could put a small bathroom in the basement for that bedroom my family had to go upstairs through the kitchen, down the hallway to use a bathroom. Otherwise the home was beautiful. Thanks The Taylor Family.

Comfy home, could use some

Overall we really enjoyed ourselves at this home. It was very comfortable and the screened in porch was a plus. The fact that it had a private pool was at the top of my list when booking since we are in the midst of COVID. The property manger allowed us to check in a couple hours early which was awesome! Just a few things for the owner that need to be addressed: the pool was dirty and cloudy upon arrival. I reached out several times to the property manager who advised the pool guy would be there Tuesday. The pool guy was a no-show Tuesday and again on Wednesday. She did apparently get the owner involved. When the pool guy finally arrived on Thursday he also had to call out the electrician because the fuse on the pump stopped working. Also, there is a rubber hose in the basement that leaks water. When we arrived someone before us had knocked it out of a small bucket and the basement floor where the washer is located was soaked. We moved the rubber hose to a larger bucket and everyday my husband had to carry it outside to empty. The basement smells like mildew but they do have a humidifier which does a good job masking the smell. We also had to empty the humidifier daily which was not listed on any instructions. The main bathroom needs to be updated. There were no paper towels or trash bags supplied as supposed to be per the listing. The main living areas were spacious and we felt like we were at home! The house is on a busy street and you will hear the fire trucks and ambulances throughout the day but no nosy neighbors!! Our final morning which was today, we were greeted by a mouse in the kitchen. We will book again as the positives absolutely outweighed any minor issues.

Decent house, terrible communication with owners

We booked this house in February, and decided to keep our reservation and social distance while making use of the pool. I emailed the guest contact the week before we left to verify the pool would be ready because the pictures only show the pool covered and I got nervous. No response. We arrived at 3:30pm on check-in day — the pool was murky and full of leaves and bugs. I called the guest contact and she called me back a few hours later to say the pool just needed a filter, and the guy would be there "first thing" to fix it. Totally fine. He didn't show up until 11am and was in the backyard for several hours. When he left, the pool was still broken. Called guest contact. He'll be back in the morning, I don't know what's wrong, he said it would be ready. Wednesday, he's back by 11am or so with an assistant and in the backyard for hours. He leaves, the pool is still murky and the filter isn't running, but they did clean out some of the leaves and bugs. I call the contact again and say that the pool isn't fixed yet, is there an update because we're running out of vacation days. Thursday at about 1pm we finally had a working pool, though it was still very cloudy — I couldn't see my hands in the water. We got one half-day of use out of the pool, which was super disappointing given that we were trying to keep to ourselves as much as possible, and specifically interested in using the pool. Also, kind of weird to use the yard when there are people working in it. The guest contact was nice, but ultimately, kept giving us incorrect information. She also said that the two previous renters also didn't have access to the pool "but they were okay with it." It's particularly annoying because I emailed in advance and they should have been transparent. My kids were so disappointed. Also, the pool might need to be refinished — my daughter's toes and fingertips were scraped raw after playing in the pool for the afternoon. We contacted Evolve the first day with our concerns and never heard back. I found out later that the guest contact had told Evolve the issues were "resolved" so they closed the case. I had to call them to reopen it, and we only received a refund that amounts to only about 9% of the total amount paid. I'm sure the pool will be fine for future renters, just our bad luck. But, boy, what a bummer and the refund is an insult.
