The property is beautiful! My favorite feature is the beautiful light, tall painted ceilings, and balconies and views. The aspen leaves outside some of the window were mesmerizing. We stayed here for a family reunion and there was plenty for everyone to do. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming, badminton, ping pong, and roasting marshmallows in the fire pit. The kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked with essentials. Two refrigerators helped store all our food, and there was plenty of space for over a dozen people to enjoy each other’s company. Air conditioning worked well and we were able to access free an open network WIFI. The beds were comfortable, and I especially appreciated the crisp cotton sheets. The owner was always available, very helpful and kind.
Some things you should be aware of (I knew to expect them from previous reviews)
1. The property has four bedrooms two full bathrooms and an extra powder room/toilet on the main level. The master suite is actually a beautiful loft upstairs with a queen bed and a twin bed. It is completely open concept. The is a toilet, sink, and a tub are in a large nook in the corner but *they are mostly out in the open*. There is a free standing dressing divider that we put in front of the toilet, but even so, no one felt comfortable using those facilities. If you sleep in the loft, you will hear everything that goes on in the main floor, and those in the main floor will hear you.
2. It’s not perfect for everyone. I would not feel comfortable having a toddles, someone with mobility challenges, or someone with severe allergies in this property. The home is decorated with many antiques, collectibles, and live plants. One of the plants was flowering and shedding and had an unpleasant odor. There are a lot of stairs and uneven ground outside for accessing all the extra activities. The foot path leading to the private dock with the kayaks is narrow and rugged. While my 72-year-old dad was able to use it, I found some difficulty with the uneven terrain.
3. Everyone who swam in the lake got swimmers itch. Like the rugged terrain, this isn’t something the owner can control. If you swim in the lake on a warm day be sure to rinse off and towel dry immediately. We made the mistake of sun bathing in the nearby public beach, unknowingly making ourselves more susceptible to the burrowing wrigglers.
Overall I’m delighted to have found this place and would happily return.
