Perfect location to explore Reykjavik. The home itself was charming with ample room to be together after a day of exploring outside the city. Parking on the street was easy and inexpensive. The hand-built "hot pot" (aka: hottub) was a major plus especially for one of our party. Would definitely stay here again.
This property was a perfect for us to wind up after two weeks in a motorhome. Comfy beds, good showers and soft towels. The house is very well located and an easy walk to the main shopping areas in ReykjavĂk.
The property is in a fairly good location, but the structure and furnishings are underwhelming for the price. The beds are small and lumpy, the stairs extremely steep and frightening, and the place was stuffy in the day and drafty at night. Charming is not the word I would use in describing this location. Terrace connotes a view. Hot tub was not a hot tub, but a "hot pot" which is a small, uncomfortable, rudimentary and unclean.
One has to leave the windows open at night which results in a lot of noise from the street and neighbors.(especially if you are in the front room on the sofa)
Despite the fact that there is a enclosed patio (terrace) and rather open front room that will accomodate luggage storage if you arrive early, the owner is adamant that there is no "early" arrival or ability to store your luggage before 2 pm check in time. That created a very large inconvenience for us and was disappointing upon discovering that there was ample space for luggage storage without putting out the housecleaners.
Lastly, the place did not seem welcoming and was a bit sterile. No welcome note or other niceties we have seen at other locations. Just a three ring binder with some maps, etc.
I would stay here again if I had to, but it would not be my first, second, or third choice.
Really enjoyed the stay at this property. The cottage is conveniently located in walking distance from most of Reykjavik, was clean, well looked after and had everything we needed for a great short stay in Iceland. We were two couples and one 11 year old and everybody fit with plenty of room. The host was very responsive both before and during our visit and normally responded within an hour. Very happy and if we come back to Reykjavik, we will book again!
We completely enjoyed our stay. The apartment is fully updated and very comfortable. The neighborhood is very quiet and safe with plenty of parking. It is a very short walk to city center with shops and restaurants. Check in and out was simple with key pad. A great stay.
Awesome location within walking distance to so many things we wanted to see and do. Excellent communication and Bjorn provided great information and recommendations for what you do in the area.
This property is exactly as stated on VRBO. Lots of attention to details within the property. Very cozy for an adult family of 4. Great location, everything we did was within walking distance.
I would definitely recommend to others and I would stay there again.
Our group of 3 couples all enjoyed this cottage for our first few nights in Iceland! Location and amenities of the property were just what we needed - and each couple had enough privacy within the cottage. The well-curated decor was cheery and modern, and the hot pot was the icing on the cake! We will hope to return!
The house is just beautiful, clean and very comfortable. I love simple Icelandic style. Itâs simple but very high quality.
The house is very close to the famous church. Actually, you can see it from the bedroom window.
Itâs very easy to communicate with the host. I feel that I had been kind of bothersome prior to our trip, asking him many questions. He was always gracious and helpful.
I already told Bjorn that we would be back.
The cleanness of his house met even my standards!
Thank you!
The best thing, by far, about the property is the location. An easy walk to museums, cafes and tourist sites, Moon Cottage is ideally situated for a Reykjavik visit. But, and it is a big BUT, the property is smaller than it appears from online photos and every movement can be heard through the thin walls. The bedrooms are up a very steep flight of stairs but the climb is barely worth it. I have not slept in beds this bad since my student days and three of our party left with aching backs. The fourth person was ok but only because they checked out on the first night and move to a nearby hotel. The listing claims to sleep six but the downstairs sofa bed has a mattress so thin that a better night would be spent sleeping on corrugated iron. The house is well-stocked, the host accessible and friendly but neither of those things overcame the awfulness of those beds.
We loved our stay at the Moon Cottage. It was very clean, great layout, and in the heart of the city, easily walkable to everything. Very quiet. We would definitely recommend and stay here again.
The house was nice and comfortable and clean. Communication with Bjorn throughout the booking and during our stay was easy with quick responses. Everything that was needed was provided in the house, except a dryer...the house has a washing machine, but no dryer. Fortunately, the heated towel drying racks (there are 2) worked well for drying our clothes.
The location is perfect- easy walking distance to the center of Reykjavik. We had a car and easily found parking on the street in front of the house without difficulty (one time had to circle around the block a few times until a spot opened). The neighborhood was quiet with a few of the "Cats of Reykjavik" hanging around occasionally!
Highly recommend this location!
We absolutely love our stay! The location was perfect with easy walkable shopping and food! The house was well maintained and clean! We would would absolutely stay here again if we travel back to Iceland!
The Moon Cottage was perfect for our family foursome. Very clean and appointed. Close to everything Reykjavik downtown to walk. Would or will be back from U.S. someday.
