BEWARE: Terrible host communication stole a few days of our family vacation.We booked a week at this property about 4 weeks before travel. We have a special needs child and chose it for the advertised “communal pool” and “pool” plus beach access.Within 24 hours of booking I messaged the host about the pool location. They replied within 24 hours that it is the public pool at Lido Beach, which has a fee and closes if the outdoor temperature is below 76 degrees. The listing did not disclose the fee or weather-dependent access. This mattered greatly for our child if beach swimming wasn’t possible. I immediately asked for a refund due to the missing details. Nine days later the host replied they would refund if we wanted. By then our backup property was booked, so we kept the reservation.The worst part: The host cancelled our reservation without any notice. We had driven 20 hours. About 7 hours before arrival I messaged the host because we still had no check-in instructions. No response. VRBO also couldn’t reach the host, and our reservation was cancelled 1 hour before our arrival. At that point our money had not been refunded and we had zero communication from the host.VRBO was awesome they put us in a hotel for the night and helped us find another property for the next day. However, we had scheduled a grocery drop-off, so we still had to go to the property to collect the groceries with nowhere to store them while staying in the hotel.This should never happen to anyone.
