Slope Point is the southernmost point of the South Island, a 20 minute walk through a sheep pasture to a little lighthouse and a sign marking the location on beautiful rugged clifftops in the Catlins. The walk is closed from Sept-Nov. during lambine.
New Zealand southern most point and the closest I've been to south pole :)

superbe halte de 2 nuits
La situation de salt house curio bay est exceptionnelle : s'endormir au son des vagues, avec l'océan à nos pieds.....et cerise sur le gùteau : le show d'une dizaine de dauphins.... APPartement nickel - rien n'y manque - nous ne pouvons que le recommander.... PS ahhh s'il fallait trouver un petit ...

What a lovely house. We arrived cold and bedraggled after a 3 day hike, to a beautiful house with sunshine streami g through the windiws. Spacious, well appointed, lovely house with well appointed kitchen.

Our family only stayed one night but it was lovely. Super comfortable beds, well stocked kitchen and a great view of the surrounding countryside. The petrified forest at Curio Bay. It's just a small town with one attraction. Here you can see the forest at low tide. In the evening you can spot some yellow eyed penguins. There is also a very nice beach.
