This was the perfect place for our group of 14, ages 3.5 to 70. We were provided with everything we needed to cook, play games, celebrate and sleep well. There was plenty of space indoor and outdoor. Just the loveliest stay! Our host Deirdre was absolutely delightful, welcoming and thoughtful. She responded quickly to questions before and during our stay. We would definitely choose to stay here again if we are in the area.

Family Vacay to Ireland

The outside photos do not let on to the beautiful and spacious interior. The property is well maintained and served all our needs. We had a family of 11 age 1 to 63 and there was ample space for sleeping, reading, eating, laundry, cooking and family fun. A perfect location for us to gather away from home and visit a lovely island.The outside space provided beauty, calm, and relaxation. Plenty of space for parking.Great location for visiting the West Coast of Ireland.

Serendipity in Slidell Ireland for real family fun

With a large family, having enough room to spread out and maintain a sense of independence was crucial, and Spidell delivered perfectly. Wonderful stay at Teach na Mara!

Spacious, clean family home was a wonderful stay for our large family. Fully stocked kitchen made for easy cooking at the house. Plenty of good pubs within 30 minute drive. 30 minutes and an easy drive to downtown Galway. 30 minutes access to the Rossaveel ferry for the Aran Islands. Deirdre was a great host and communicative! Thanks for a great stay.

Weekend girls trip

We loved our stay in Spiddal with Deirdre, and could not fault any of our stay - from the time we initially booked right through to checking out!The house itself exceeded our expectations and was spotlessly clean, with plenty of space for our group of 14, as well as all the bits and bobs we might need during our stay. Outside of Spiddal itself, a car is definitely needed but there was lots of room to park, and the drive up to the house is very straightforward.Deirdre was great in the run up to our trip, answering all of our questions about coffee machines and chairs, and even popped by on our first evening to make sure that we had all that we needed.None of our group would hesitate to stay again were we looking for somewhere to stay for a group in Connemara!Go raibh maith agat

Beyond our expectations!

If I could give more than 5 stars I would!! This house was just perfect for our stay in Galway. It was immaculate, comfortable and very spacious for our large family. Deirdre was an amazing host and not only gave us some fantastic suggestions and advice of things to do in the area, her hospitality, friendliness and welcome basket was an unexpected bonus to our stay as well. We had everything we could possibly need to make our stay comfortable including a well stocked kitchen so we could stay and eat in when we wanted. There were also several outdoor seating areas that were very comfortable and inviting. After visiting the hustle and bustle of Dublin and Killarney it was nice being a little outside of Galway in the quiet countryside, yet close enough to enjoy both Galway and the Aran Islands. I highly recommend Deirdre's home!

Immaculate house and host

We had an absolutely wonderful time in host Deidre's beautiful home up the hill from Spiddal. The home is huge and incredibly well appointed, you won't feel like you are at a generic grey VRBO. The kitchen is stocked with everything you could possibly need and the bedrooms, laundry and bathrooms go above and beyond to provide a comfortable space. There are several adorable outside sitting spaces that the pictures don't do justice, you really are in an incredibly beautiful, quiet and private part of the country. Deidre answers questions super quickly, and if you're visiting from the US you might have a few about how and when to use various appliances/systems. There is a great instruction binder there too. You have to drive, but are central to be able to easily visit Galway, Kylemore Abbey, and other places on the West Coast. Highly recommend!

Lovely home and town

We had an amazing time staying at Deirdre’s home. The house and location were beautiful and the nearby town was lovely. It was perfect for our large family group. Deirdre was able to accommodate an early check-in which was greatly appreciated by our group after a long and stressful travel day the day before. It was especially appreciated by our tiny ones who were exhausted. She also had so many things available that helped us feel at home…cots, a high chair, and toys for the little ones (4 mo, 2, and 3). The older kids loved (9 and 14) loved the outdoor space and the games that were there. We loved visiting the town of Spiddal, the craft village, and the local pubs/restaurants. We took several day trips to nearby places including Galway and Kylemore Abbey. It was nice to have a quiet spot to return too. Overall we had a lovely visit and Deirdre’s hospitality was a huge part of that. I hope to be able to come back some day and visit again.

Lovely countryside lodging

This is a lovely house in the Irish countryside. It has lovely decorations, was well furnished, and very comfortable. Dièdre was very responsive and helpful. Getting to the house takes a bit of doing, but the location is quiet and is great for taking walks.

Incredible Home from Home

The house is absolutely fabulous. It’s spotless and the facilities are incredibly well thought out. Anything we needed was provided including baby monitors, cots, bouncer etc. The house was beautifully decorated with Christmas decorations. It’s easy to tell that it is a much loved home of the owner as they take such good care of it. Would definitely recommend and will be rebooking soon.

Lovely & Comfortable Property

Stayed with friends while visiting a resident of Ireland. It was a vacation for everyone. The house was lovely, well decorated and comfortable. We also appreciated the nice touches like our welcoming cake, etc. The house was also well-stocked. The only comment I would make is that the house is a bit remote.

A Lovely Home in a Lovely Part of the World

This was a 5 star experience. Diedre could not have been more responsive to our requests. The area was lovely for morning walks. Some quality improvement suggestions: 1. The bathroom towels did not absorb water well. You might change to 100% cotton towels. 2. A nice touch would be to provide 100% very large cotton robes. I do this for my house guests in Italy, with 2 in each of my 6 bedrooms across 2 residences. 3. It would be a good idea to use 100% cotton comforter covers and to add a 100% cotton sheet to the contour sheet for each bed. 4. I added screens to each window and door across the 2 residences on my property in Italy. Having screens for each of your windows and doors would enhance the functionality and comfort of your property with the increasingly warm weather. 5. The rubber sealer for the clothes washer has black mold. You might periodically add clothes washer cleaning solution to that clothes washer. 6. You might add a vent to the outside for the dryer, which would enhance the efficiency of the dryer.

Our stay at Deirdre’s home was a joy and she is an outstanding host! A great location—off the beaten path, but close to many activities. A beautiful, spotless, and well laid out house. And, she was as welcoming and thoughtful as one could ask for in a host. Everything was perfect.

Family get together in a home from home

Beautiful house, great location, and a tremendously helpful and caring host. From the very start we were welcomed with good information and flexible check in arrangements. Also some welcome supplies to start our stay off. Throughout our stay our friendly and helpful host was on hand but not intrusive. On leaving again the process was a simple as arriving the same helpful requirements that placed no extra burdens on busy preparations for the trip home after a great time together in a Lovely place that provided for all our needs. Simply the best

At first I was hesitant from being so far from Galway City center. I was completely wrong. Spiddel is a scenic town with activities for all: traditional music, shopping, great coffee, and perfect streets for long walks. The house itself, Teach Na Mara, seems to be brand new with every little detail you could possibly need: two kinds of coffee makers, brand new kitchen appliances, turf ready outside, a beautiful bbq area, and loads of space and charm. The owner is the kindest host I have ever encountered. She is creative and empathetic and readily available should you need her. We were here with four children under the age of ten and didn't hear them: this house is so well designed for peace. This house should be at the top of every person's wishlist to enjoy at least once.
