The property was centrally located to Cruz Bay and we had easy access to all points of interest. A Jeep is a must have. The views were unparalleled and for our sonâs final high school spring break we could not have picked a better place.
The house was beautiful and clean, gorgeous view. Loved the two separate efficiency apartments for the in laws. We could all hang out but also retreat back to our separate parts of the house at the end of the day. Short drive to down. Great place.
This house was perfect for our family vacation. The layout is great- with two large bedrooms adjacent to the kitchen/dining area and then two additional bedrooms that are more self-contained and private downstairs. These work well for older kids or friends. The house had everything we needed for cooking, grilling, beach trips in the national park (about 15-20 min away) and pool time. And the pool is large and heavenly! We will definitely be back. I would recommend this home for groups with children 7 as the many stairs and open pool area could be harder on families with little children.
The villa was gorgeous, and the four separate rooms (including two self-contained apartments) were perfect for giving our extended family privacy during our stay. The driveway was extremely steep - you will need to rent cars with 4-wheel drive to make it to the top (and every trip up and down was still a little nerve-wracking, even in a Jeep). FYI - the markets are extremely accessible, and there is no reason to pay additional fees for provisioning services. Overall, we loved our stay!!
This property is paradise with incredible views of the water! The neighborhood is peaceful and quiet. The house is clean and well appointed with plenty of private space for all! The kitchen has everything you need to make a fabulous meal as well as a good sized gas grill on the deck! Great communication with Katja, the property manager! We loved the authentic Caribbean charm of this home and we hope to visit again next year!
Overall everything was perfect. The location is very convenient to Cruz Bay and the ferry terminal. We had six people total and it was more than enough room. We had two older teenage children and they were able to use the downstairs rooms, had those children been any younger and the layout of the house would have been a little awkward. The amenities provided were extremely helpful. Everything was very clean and well set up. The furniture is lovely and the living room is very comfortable. I have nothing negative to say everything was very nice at this Villa!
We, our family of 5, three boys in their 20's, stayed at Terrapin Station the week before Christmas. We had an amazing time. The location of the house is great and the views are spectacular. Katja, the house manager was there when we needed her and she also met us at the car ferry. We rented a car in St. Thomas and hit the Cost U Less for groceries before getting on ferry to St. John. Highly recommend this! The house is so comfortable, open, big rooms. The kitchen is so well stocked with pots and pans, utensils, small appliances, spices!! We cooked in almost every night after hiking and hitting a different beach each day. It was very relaxing coming back to the house, making cocktails and watching the sun set. I know some have commented on the steep driveway and it is steep but after doing it your first time you will be good to go! The house has a nice cooler, special beach towels and chairs for the beach. We did do a boat charter one day and used Palm Tree Charters, Jimmy the owner, was our captain and I highly recommend using this company. We did a day around the island and learned so much history about St. John. We saw a lot of huge turtles, fish, a barracuda, sting ray and an octopus while snorkeling. Hope all of this helps. Parking in town is in high demand. There are a couple of lots to pay and park. Wish we had more days to explore town.
Overall, this property is nice.
Some pros and cons:
Pros: Its a nice space with 4 master bedrooms, great for 4 couples or a mix of small families. 2 rooms on the top floor are connected in the middle with the living/dining/kitchen, which is well suited. Kitchen had mostly everything we needed. Good location, for sure.
Cons: The way the 4 master bedrooms are set up, the two suites on the lower level are only accessible by going up the deck steps. So the 2 bedrooms downstairs are not a good setup for kids, grandparents, etc. The two bottom level bedrooms also didnt seem to be completely sealed from the outside- our 3 teens slept in those rooms and got many misquito bites as they slept. The driveway is VERY steep- fun for our crew, but I could see it being a negative for some. In general, St.Johns roads are akin to a jungle scene up a mountain in the movie Jumangi. There is no public trash service on the island, so be aware that you'll need to drive your trash to a dumpster about 5-10 minutes away.
House:
amazing view,
House very comfortable,
TV in almost each room,
Pool very nice,
Property Manger:
We had a little issue at the beginning as the house was not ready neither cleaned. But the property manager was nice to offer us one more night as apology.
I would go back to this house again.
The home and property are absolutely gorgeous. We loved this house the most out of everywhere we have stayed. The layout worked really well for us with two masters off the main living area and an additional two apartment style rooms on the lower level. The home is very welcoming and cozy. The living room furniture was amazing! I want to buy it for my own house. The kitchen was fully stocked and even had extras like spices which we very much appreciated. I love how the property manager waited for us at the dock and lead us to the property. Itâs in a fabuabout minutes
Location is great! This is the 3rd property weâve stayed in on STJ, and while it was definitely adequate for our getaway purposes in every way, itâs been our least favorite due to layout mostly. Wouldnât recommend for family with young children; there are many stairs on this property and access to the pool is not easy.
Our group of 8 had the most amazing stay!! All of us parents enjoyed a vacation without kids. The house made our trip so easy having everything we needed and more. The location was perfect too being so close to Cruz Bay and so secluded. And the pool!!! It was so fun to enjoy day and night!! We highly recommend this house!
We were a group of 2 families. The 4 bedrooms allowed us to spread out. Communication with property manager was A+. Beds very comfortable. Kitchen excellent. Driveway challenging but we got better with each day we spent there. Pool great. Outdoor deck with raised bar table and shade screen wonderful. Great views in AM and PM. Beach towels provided were good. Beach chairs and coolers provided were fine. Overall a great place to stay! Thanks Katja.
Really enjoyed staying at this house. Great location and views. One thing to consider is the downstairs rooms are like apartments. Our kids did not want to stay there so it was great that each upstairs rooms had day beds and the couch was extremely comfortable.
It was a wonderful house and suited the needs of our group beautifully! Only thing I would recommend be noted on the listing is the steep driveway. Our taxi driver was willing to go up each time but if we were traveling with older folks it would be really dangerous. Otherwise, amazing house!!
We just had this most wonderful week at the villa! Views were amazing and the location was convenient! It was the perfect layout for our two families of four. We have four teenagers between the two families and there was great room for everyone to spread out. The property managers were very helpful and answered any questions we had immediately. I canât say enough about how wonderful our week was! Waking up this morning wishing we were still there!
Great place to stay for larger family or groups. Beautiful views, awesome pool. Very helpful hosts/managers who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable.
We had kids ages 8 and 10 and their grandparents in their 80s with us. Those in their 80s wouldâve struggled on their own here as the very steep driveway and many stairs are tough to navigate. And I wouldâve been nervous with really small kids given all the decks and stairs. But we loved it.
