This is a poorly run property that was once much better. (We've stayed at this resort in the past.) We won't be staying at Ameristar again. Period. Positives: - great location by a major freeway and lovely, historic St. Charles - large and pretty in a broad, architectural sense: feels like big casino resort overlooking the Missouri River - the rooms remain architecturally interesting and were shaped and built with generally nice, thoughtful materials and design details - easy parking Negatives: - the vast pool area is only open seasonally now, and it's noted in a subtle manner on the resort's website; this is in spite of it having been 80 degrees every day, there being an indoor pool portion, and there being hot tubs; in most of the world, outdoor hot tubs remain open year-round or almost year-round: think of ski resorts, for example; this is just lazy and terrible cost-cutting - the resort is still charging its resort fee daily; clearly a money-grab even though the pool areas aren't open - they try to claim the spa is a replacement in some sense; but the spa is a paid service, by a lot, so this is just another money-grab - check-in was terrible: they don't really care on any level if you're arriving early, won't try to have your room ready early, and instead try to sell you on an $85 early-check-in option; then they tell you they'll call or text when your room is ready, but they don't - I have MUCH more to note; Expedia won't permit me to share much more: space limits

Room could have been cleaned more thoroughly and needs some updating. These rooms use to be so nice. It was always a good place to come for a staycation.

We stayed 2 nights. Everything was beautiful but we did not know the hot tub was closed, the spa and nice restaurants were closed on Tuesday and Wednesday which was when we were there, and the casino was closed for 12 hours for upgrades. We had to leave and go out for dining and entertainment. Most of the nicer restaurants and shops on the historic Main Street were also closed on Tuesday and Wednesday. We visited the spa on Thursday. Nice and clean but overpriced compared to comparable quality spas. I had tried to call the front desk ahead of reservations to confirm amenities but hung up after waiting for 35 mins. Phone in room did not work

I love the polite and professionalism of the staff. I had problems with my booking at the beginning, due to Travelocity site being down. The help desk was able to help fix everything. We stayed the whole weekend and had a blast. We will be back when the pool opens up

This was overall a horrible stay. It started off we had to wait an hour and 45 minutes to check in because the rooms were not ready yet. I asked if we could have late check out and was told they could NOT accommodate that due to the number of check ins the next day. When we got to the room we later discovered that the main door did not shut all the way leaving the door open not safe at all. All of the tv channels did not work and the toilet paper holder fell apart . My mom was laying down and discovered there was blood stains on her sheets. We called a manager who came up and gave us sheets and called maintenance to fix the door. The manager said that they would take something off our bill , later to find out that was a lie. We went to dinner at Bugattis which is a steak house on the same property and ended up having to send back all three steaks as they were to tough to eat we couldn’t bare it. Fast forward to check out. I was told I still owed for service fee. I asked if there had been a discount applied and was told no because I booked through a third party and the hotel could not make any adjustments. I was given a voucher for thier restaurants that is good for 30 days AS I WAS LEAVING. never again I can not believe what all went on. I’ve stayed at better motels.

I always enjoy my stay. Only two things, First, no safe in the premium suites which is the newly remodeled rooms. Second, my dining experience at Amerisports was poor. The meat used for the burgers is not the best. Would never order a burger again from there. But, I would never eat there again after the male waiter serving me rushed me during my entire dining experience and at the end never asked if I saved room for dessert or wanted any dessert. Just ended up bringing me the check.

My favorite little escape!
Always a great stay! Love coming to the Ameristar Casino! Only draw back was the restaurants not being open, only 1 or 2 choices this night.

Our room was very nice and clean. We did have to request clean towels everyday. No Maid service while we were there. Very low water pressure in the shower.

Staff not very friendly. Stayed 2 nights & they don’t offer housekeeping. Couch in living room area of suite was filthy. Stained & needed to be vacuumed/cleaned. Casino barely has any table games open & the smoking in every area of casino is unbearable. Not a great experience.
