I want to start by saying the front desk team was incredibly kind and welcoming. The woman who checked us in went out of her way to make us feel welcome, offering bottled water and snacks, which we appreciated. She also handled a difficult situation with a homeless individual professionally, and that did not go unnoticed.
That said, there were several concerns that made us uncomfortable. The area around the hotel felt unsafe, with a visible homeless presence around the property and adjacent street. Although a security guard was sitting outside when we arrived, he never intervened, and we saw no additional security presence during the rest of our stay.
The hotel also had a strong musty smell throughout. There were clean air machines in the hallways, and our room had a mix of musty odor and overpowering air fresheners that made our eyes water. The beds were on metal frames and squeaked loudly with any movement, the hotel felt dated, and our sink did not drain properly.
We also did not feel comfortable stopping for snacks after returning from the dome because the area felt unsafe. The vending machine was broken, and our room overlooked what appeared to be a junkyard.
