Our family came all the way from Texas to celebrate our late son, Valor’s would-be 4th birthday. We had not had true together time- just us- in so long. We imagined our vacation in a place that would feel like “home” yet in a setting that helped us imagine what heaven will be like someday. The Fernwood villa turned out to be exactly this. Our 5 kids ages range from 4months to 15 years and we all had the most lovely time. The home was immaculate, spacious and filled with all the things our family needed to enjoy ourselves and be comfortable. From toys, to a crib, a fully equipped kitchen and grill. Every morning the kids collected eggs from the coop and tomatoes from the garden and we made a delicious healthy breakfast. Every evening we would enjoy a fire out back and roast s’mores. We truly fell in love with the place. It was like a slice of heaven after several hard years after loss. Our children especially grew fond of the ponies and went to pet and feed them multiple times throughout the day. The area itself was quiet and secluded, yet so close to fun family friendly things to do. My husband even took our 2 year old and walked all the way to michaels bread a local brewery 3 miles away while I was gone with the other kiddos grocery shopping. We ended up having our first family photos done since our last baby was born done while we were there. The land and home provided the perfect backdrop and made taking pictures easier since we didn’t have leave ‘home’. I will treasure these always. After taking photos we had our photographer friend, her husband and kiddos stay for awhile and we ate crab and had some wine on the back patio, laughed and imagined what life would be like if we moved our family from Texas to some land in this beautiful state of Pennsylvania. Our oldest son’s 9th birthday also landed on one of the days we were here and we loved taking him to the Speckled Hen right down the road and getting French toast and playing on their playground out back while enjoying a hot latte. Overall, I can’t say enough good things about the home. I feel like I could ramble for days telling in detail the story of our stay, and how it felt like a home away from home. Thank you for allowing us such an integral trip experience in the story Gods writing of our lives. We hope to come back someday, very, very soon.
