Hunter Mountain is a short drive away — a go-to for skiing and snowboarding in winter, and hiking and festivals through the warmer months. The two-tiered cascade of Kaaterskill Falls is only about ten minutes down Route 23A, with more trailheads and scenic drives close enough to fill a day without much planning. Phoenicia and Woodstock are each worth an afternoon for their restaurants, shops, and laid-back energy. The Summit fits a lot of people without ever feeling crowded — and on a group trip, that makes all the difference.
