„The hotel it's small but super clean and well done. The staff is super helpful and friendly. The rooms are spacious and the bathroom huge. The only thing is that is on a quiet neighborhood so it's like 20 minute walk to the canal and Nishiki market but still centric enough. Also, the futon sounds like a good idea until the second night and your hips are dying...just saying. It's not as easy as you think if you are 35 or older...“

„We were a little surprised how well this hotel was rated. It wasn't bad, just not as exceptional as the ratings reflect. There were only 2 pillows in the room, and when I ask for more the staff informed me there were none. At a hotel? No pillows? The room was clean enough, but not spotless. There were dirty spots on the carpet and visible dust on furniture. However, it's not a bad place. So it's tricky to rate. The location is great and it's quiet and safe. The room is spacious for Japanese ...

„Truly one of the best stays of all my travels. It was personalised to every detail, from the moment we entered as we got to chose our welcome drink to the luggage delivery service with extra attention in the end. The location was precious, very historical and quite private, while the amenities were unexpectedly very modern. The staff were beyond adorable and extremely helpful; Shinyi and Sae are very caring and we already miss them! Having the breakfast served in the room was also great. This ...

„We loved our stay at this stylish small hotel. Our corner room was spacious, with sensational views over the city, hills and Shirakawa River. The bed was firm, the shower strong and the amenities were decent for our five night stay. One of the things we liked most about the hotel was its lobby and lounge area, with picture windows taking in the river and autumn leaves and books to enjoy on a cold afternoon. It had such a calm atmosphere. Breakfast was served here (delicious and good value at ...

„This is our second time staying at this place and we just love how it’s in the center of Gion district surrounded with the best food spots. We also love how close it is to shopping, nishiki market, karaoke, all the fun stuff!! The space itself is huge and the onsen is just the cherry on top after a LOOONG day of walking/exploring. It’s < 20 mins away from Kyoto station as well.“

„We had an amazing 3 day stay at Art Mon Zen. From the moment we arrived to leaving, the staff were exceptional and extremely attentive. Probably the best hotel stay in Japan. Overall, the room was very comfortable and relaxing after a long day visiting all the sensational sights in Kyoto. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wishing to stay near the main Gion district in Kyoto.“
