Chalet authentique pour amateurs de montagne - proche domaine skiable Portes du Soleil

Stay in this traditional Alpine chalet (recently renovated), full of quirky charm, with beautiful views of the Val d'Illiez valley in the French-speaking part of Switzerland (32km from Montreux where the famous Jazz festival takes place every summer & 122km from Geneva airport).

The chalet is a 20min drive from Les Portes du Soleil (largest skiing area in Europe), with 650 km of slopes across 12 resorts in 2 countries (Switzerland and France).

You can travel here by train, though you might need to take a 5 minute taxi ride if there's lots of snow.

Located in a mountain valley in Switzerland, the chalet provides easy access to skiing, hiking, climbing and mountain biking. The chalet is next to a dramatic river, facing onto the slopes of the Val D'Illiez.

The house is a traditional mountain chalet, which was refurbished in December 2017 with a new pellet heating system and a triple glazing window-front downstairs.

The space fits 4 people, with a sofa that turns into a double bed, and a main bedroom with a double bed. It's great accommodation for two young couples.

The heating system requires a refill every 12h with a bag of pellets (that we will provide), depending on the heat you want in the house. You can expect a ambient heat of 18-21°C (64.5 to 70 Fahrenheit). The upstairs bedroom is around 18°C but can be warmed up further with a small electrical heater. The downstairs room is warmer because the pellet heating is situated there.

If you have any mobility issues, please note that the access from the top level to the bottom level is with a steep loft-style ladder staircase.

The access to the main house is 20 meters away, though in winter, it may be difficult for people with mobility issues, as the stairs can be slippery with snow or ice. We will provide you with salt (and instructions on how to use it) to make this easier.
