We started cleaning 10 minutes after arrival and continued to do so all week. I don’t care what updates you have done if the place is dirty. Mud swipes on furniture, black dog hair everywhere, dirt on light switches, vents and bedside tables, etc. We left it cleaner than we found it. In a word, this place is total DIY. Too many things to list but let’s just say poor cleaning, terrible maintenance, poor responsiveness of the owner, poor furniture, etc. The well pump also stopped working during our stay and was down for 11 HOURS with no drinking water, no toilets flushing, no showers, no laundry, no coffee, etc. The owner told us at check-in this could be a problem. (Red Flag) After attempting to contact the owner via VRBO message, text message and phone call multiple times during the 11 hours on the number he provided at check-in with no response, we reached out to VRBO directly who provided us a partial refund and agreed to a full refund after 24 hours without repair. It was eventually repaired by the owners dad. VRBO also couldn’t reach the owner when they tried. I also have rental properties and know how to manage them. This is just one really, really poorly managed rental. Doing the least possible to get by.
