Although check in was quick and the clerk was pleasant, the hotel is nowhere close to what it used to be several owners/brands/names ago. Exterior is neglected with weeds and buckling pavement all over the property. I did appreciate the security guard watching the lot all night but suspect that’s more a necessity than a perk. The hallways are dimly lit and the room was dated. Chairs are old and threadbare, the paint and drywall gouged in several places, and overall a remodel is badly needed. The plumbing in the bathroom is worrisome as severe water hammer can be heard when the toilet flushes. Water pressure is good, though. The bed was ok comfort wise and the bedding seemed clean. The biggest concern came as we were packing our things to leave. I found a hypodermic needle behind the nightstand. So obviously the rooms are not thoroughly cleaned between guests. Just finding that needle upset me so much because of the possibility of a child finding it and sticking themselves with it. That the hotel knows the clientele that their hotel now draws and doesn’t do a decent job of cleaning up after these nasty people says so much about the ownership/management. I notified the clerk and was offered an unsatisfactory apology. I stayed at this hotel when it was a Red Roof Inn 25 years ago and it was a very popular hotel in a great location with very desirable guests. It’s the opposite of that now. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this property.
