Sunny Waterfront Cottage at FarAway Pond

Waterfront! Hot tub & dock with kayaks on private lake. Enjoy the screen pavilion with sofa & fire table and bright, wood lined cottage with all you need for a peaceful getaway-Japanese soaking tub, (small) Heat/AC, +fast wifi. Cook in the kitchen or grill in the beach side pavilion. Walk the trails around the lake through forest & meadow to the nearby State Forest & Gold Mine Trail. We group the 3 cottages to preserve the shore for nature to thrive-message to reserve all 3 for total privacy

Enjoy the screened pavilion complete with hot tub, fire table, and comfy sofa. Enter this generously sized tiny house from the deck through large sliding doors and find the sunny wood walled living room and kitchen with vaulted ceiling and peaceful views over FarAway Pond.

The kitchen has induction top burners, a convection/microwave, crock pot and coffee and tea makers with a full sized refrigerator/freezer. The living room has a queen sofa bed and comfy arm chair and a rolling workstation can be added if you like. The bedroom/bath has an adjustable full sized bed with TV on facing wall with all the channels. The bathroom is a bright space ( separated from the bedroom by a folding screen) with new conventional plumbing and a Japanese soaking tub with bubble jets and a hand held shower. This cottage is best for a couple, single or guests with a small child

There are only 3 cottages along the lake shore. We group these cottages along one side of the pond so the maximum shoreline is protected, following guidelines set by our forest advisor. Each cottage has a private view, but as sound carries over water, you may hear other guests enjoying their deck, or accessing the trail around the pond. We have a team of dedicated groundskeepers and gardeners who keep everything tidy and you may see them about the place, watering and trimming.

Please note that the shared beach and beach pavilions with grill are there for your use please access the trail at the far end of the beach that goes all the way around the pond or through the meadow to the Dana forest Gold mine Trail. Please respect the privacy of the other cottages, including island and gazebo

PLEASE drive only on the gravel driveways and parking areas as the lawns and septic systems do not tolerate the weight of cars.

Enjoy two beach pavilions (may be shared with other guests in the other cottage) on our large sandy beach with fire pit and wood for a s`mores treat and a new gas grill for winter fun after exploring. Tables, chairs and chaise lounges, plus a volleyball/badminton net and sand toys for summer.

We respect your privacy but you may see the maintenance/landscaping rew around during your visit. Please note that while we do our very best to keep the grills, decks, dock and toys current, some wear should be expected. WE humbly request that you bring ANY and ALL issues with our grounds, grills, beach and trails to our attention as soon as you notice a problem. That way we can get to fixing it for you. 68 acres is a lot to keep track of and we really appreciate your help in staying on top of problems.

Walk or snowshoe the trails on our private estate or venture in to the adjacent 300 acre State Forest with miles of trails and even an old gold mine! This four-season home makes a great base for exploring the foliage in fall and hiking the White Mountains any time of year. In the winter there are numerous ski resorts all around the White Mountains including Cannon and Bretton Woods.

The entire space is yours to enjoy! Miles of trails, a pure pond for fishing, swimming and paddling-kayaks and peddle boat provided in season and snowshoes and ice fishing rods for winter. Caretakers live on property and there is one other cottage, not visible from the Sun House, that may have other guests.

I am in residence in the barn above the pond, out of sight, but nearby should you need anything. I am always available by phone to give you directions or tips about the neighborhood.

This peaceful property is close to shops, theater, restaurants and bars in nearby Whitefield, Lancaster and Littleton a short drive away. Drinks at the Mt. View Grand on the veranda overlooking the Presidential range is a popular outing. There is also a golf course there, just 3 miles away.

GPS has trouble in the area sometimes, I will send directions when you book.

The entire pond is there for you you to enjoy and there are lovely trails to walk through the woods and meadows. Look for moose, bear, otter and our lovely ducks as they float around the pond. Table and chairs on the deck. There are trout in the pond as well, bring your fishing gear! Grill, pizza oven, and fire pit on adjacent beach in roofed pavilions.

HOUSE RULE: Have Fun, Keep the Peace and let us know if you need anything or have questions. Please note that check out is at 11:00 AM when our cleaners arrive. To prepare for departure, please leave linen a where it is, wash the dishes and bag the trash. That`s it!

Policy Note
Should you find any issue that needs correcting, it is our policy and also that of our booking partners that you first give us a chance to fix the problem. No refund or change of dates can be allowed unless we are notified in a timely way about something that needs attention. (Regretfully-the weather is not in our control-however much we might want to change it!)

GUESTS AND VISITORS
To ensure everyone`s safety and for insurance purposes, only the guests listed on the reservation are permitted on the property. We thank you for your understanding!

QUIET HOURS
Please help us maintain the peaceful nature of our lakeside setting. Quiet hours begin at dusk. To be mindful of our neighbors, please do not play amplified music outdoors at any time. Sound travels easily over the water, and we appreciate your cooperation.

WATERFRONT SAFETY
Our pond is a wonderful feature, and we want you to enjoy it safely! Please remember:
Swim at Your Own Risk: There is no lifeguard on duty.
Supervise Children: Adults must supervise children at all times when they are near or in the water.
Water & Alcohol: For your safety, please do not use the pond, kayaks, or boats if you have been drinking.

PARKING
Please keep all vehicles on the gravel driveway and park at the end of the walkway to your cottage. We have well, septic, and electrical lines running underground beneath the lawn, and driving on it could cause significant damage.

DOGS
We love dogs! All dog guests must be well socialized and kept under the control of the owner as we may have several dogs on the property at one time. We expect our guest dogs to not be aggressive towards people or other animals, on or off leash. Dog owners are responsible for their dogs actions.

FIREARMS AND FIREWORKS
For the safety and peace of everyone, firearms and fireworks are strictly prohibited on the property.
