We absolutely loved our stay at the Lake Cottage Oleander by the Tropic of Cancer beach! The cottage was adorable & Valerie & Pierre were amazing. The location was so quiet & peaceful, plus it was a short walk to one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. I highly recommend staying here.
Valerie met us and took us to the cottage to check in and made sure we were comfortable with everything. The cottage was lovey and every detail was addressed. It was very private. We enjoyed the peaceful setting and sent time relaxing outside in the hot tub and lounging in spa like setting inside. Great time!
Modern cozy cottage with perfect hot tub for 2 in private area 3 minute walk to the perfect quiet beach! Host is responsive and accommodating - a retreat experience for sure! Enjoyed long walks on beach and amazing sea kayaking (included). Brought our own snorkel gear to make an epic sea kayak giant brain coral lion fish experience!
Lovely secluded cottage on a salt lake with easy beach access
This little cottage was perfect in every way! Itâs right off of Tropic of Cancer beach with private beach access. Valerie was terrific whenever we had a question. It has its own internet, water, and electric so there was never a power interruption. Highly recommend if you are planning to stay at this end of the island!
This property was exactly what we needed. It was secluded, quiet and well equipped. Valerie was a great host even though we were very late arriving on our first day. The property was exactly as advertised.
Don't hesitate, select this beautifully appointed, fully self-sustained property just a short walk to the most incredible beach on earth. A big thank you to Valerie, can't wait to go back for deep relaxation and natural beauty.
This little cottage is absolutely perfect! Fresh, clean, & even nicer than pictured. It has everything you need!
PROS:
Hosts: Valerie & her family are SUPER responsive! We were missing a beach umbrella the first day we arrived & within 10 mins it was delivered! Talk about service! Valerie has thought of everything! She even sends you a house guide once you've confirmed your reservation. This booklet includes all things related to the house along with directions, restaurant recommendations, activities, etc. - she has truly thought of everything! (VRBO owners could learn a thing or two from Valerie!) They even allowed us to use their kayaks at the main house one morning - so nice of them!
Location: This location is EVERYTHING! Nicest beach on the entire island! You will not be disappointed. The cottage is a short walk from the beach - less than 5 mins/very close.
Kitchen: has everything you need to prepare meals (knives; tupperware; pots/pans; etc.) there was not one thing we were missing. The induction cooktop is perfect; heats up super fast & cooks food evenly. Didn't use oven feature but microwave worked perfect as well.
Bathroom: big walk in shower; full size washer & dryer; both which appear to be brand new!
Bedroom: King size bed (which was EXTREMELY comfortable) with 2 nightstands
Living Room - sofa with lounger & very large smart TV; we were able to watch Netflix/Prime with no problems.
Our week stay here was great! Felt off the grid, we did have some storms and still had electricity, water and great wifi/streaming. The location was perfect, loved the quick access to Tropic of Cancer beach. We drove to Georgetown for dinner a few nights and to Hoopers for a beach day and didnât mind the drive f/ Little Exuma. This house is exactly as pictured and described, had everything we needed. Property was clean and comfortable. Hot tub was a nice perk on the rainy day in. Definitely recommend booking!
Pros - Modern, well stocked kitchen, comfortable bed, great hot tub, plenty of shade on the porch, lots of unusual birds that visit the salt pond, great value for a short walk to Tropic of Cancer beach. Owners are very responsive!
Cons: bugs at dawn and dusk can be brutal. Enter and exit quickly so they donât get in the house!
Recommend Breaâs Delight which is at the main beach access for veggie burger (and many other choices of course) and drinks.
Enjoy the beautiful blues of Exuma!
We loved our stay at Lake Cottage. We had a little hiccup with our check in, but Valerie made it right and made sure everything was great for us. We look forward to staying at other properties with them in the future! Highly recommend this spot for a group of two, you have everything you need to enjoy this beautiful place.
We had a wonderful stay at Valerieâs Lake Cottage! The cottage was very cute and simple and we were impressed with the cleanliness of the entire place. We felt right at home right away and enjoyed the jacuzzi and eating our meals outside on the deck. The beach a very close walk and not populated at all, and the water is just beautiful - so so blue - pictures donât even do justice. We felt very remote & secluded the whole time & it was like we had the place to ourselves! We both highly recommend this cottage to any couple whoâs looking to get away for some quality time apart from the busyness of tourists at most vacation destinations!
This is one of the few places to stay for just 2 people, most of the VRBOs in this area are large homes for groups. It is secluded, overlooking the salt pond. Amenities are as described. Walk to the beach is more like 5 min. Sewer smells from toilet are overwhelming. Iron sediments in the water pipes will stain clothes.
Valerie and Pierre are excellent hosts and the property is totally off the grid with a solar farm and reverse osmosis water supply. Internet connectivity is excellent. Highly recommend.
This was a great place. Private and quick walk to the beach. I would highly recommend this for a couple. The cottage had everything you would need for a short or long stay. The owners were great and very helpful.
If you're looking to stay in absolute paradise, this is the place for you! This cottage is so remote, our 81-year-old taxi driver who has lived on this island his entire life had no idea where it was and had to ask for help. We didn't realize just how remote this location was, but quickly realized that there is nothing to do and nowhere to go except go to the most amazing beach and soak in the hot tub. This is exactly what we needed!
I can't stress how amazing the beach was and it was a total bonus that it was essentially empty the entire 5 days we were there. The cottage was amazing and had everything that we needed for the week (definitely stop on your way in to grab groceries and alcohol, the closest store is about 20 miles away).
We didn't get to meet Valerie since she was out of the country, but Pierre was lovely and very helpful and invited us over for drinks one night. We would love to return in the future!
After 2 long years of Covid, it was our delight to be the very first guests at The Lake Cottage which is a 2 minute walk from the best beach anywhere. Tropic of Cancer Beach has sugar white sands and safe turquoise waters. The cottage is tucked away on an inland salt lake which we had all to ourselves. Though this part of Little Exuma is unspoiled our hosts have found every way to provide luxury whilst respecting the pristine environment: solar energy, reverse osmosis water supply, hot water on demand, great internet for work or entertainment. We enjoyed birdsong in the morning and after dark from our relaxing jacuzzi. The hosts live nearby and are always available and very responsive. Valerie even anticipates things that you may enjoy such as the Tommy Bahamas beach chairs that appeared magically at our door one afternoon! Thank you so much Valerie and Pierre for sharing your gem with us--it was a perfect week?
